My father has been the best dad for me, one of the most consistent supportive people in my life, and I honor all the ways the patriarchy put pressure on him to be the everything for me and my mom and siblings and the ways he upholds oppression under the patriarchy through that pressure to be the perfect father figure & leader.

Under the patriarchy we are taught that fathers have the ultimate say and authority, & inform our sense of self-esteem, but also sense of disappointment & shame.

Fathers “give permission” for us to be “married away” and are understood as the caretakers over daughters to be “given away” to the next man who is supposed to take care of us.

Under the patriarchy, socialized women are never sovereign, always defined in relationship to the power that men hold.

I wanted to share this because it’s coming up for many people. I’m noticing how much importance Women of Color & LGBTQ+ POC were taught to place upon their fathers’ approval of them & how they live their lives. And internalized shame and disappointment not only from their fathers but under the patriarchy. That we are made to feel inherently shameful & disappointments by virtue of being Women & LGBTQ+ and how the shame & disappointment of the patriarchy gets projected & displaced onto us.

This is why so many Men of Color talk about the pressure to be the perfect men & fathers and how it makes it hard to be vulnerable & imperfect in their role expectations.

This is why we need a return to more matriarchal & lateral communities where it is understood that the divine masculine and feminine live within all of us, & is not so much gendered but energetic.

When we let our father figures be human, we put less pressure on them to be our everything & place our worth on their approval.

And we break the spell of the patriarchy that renders us as Women of Color & LGBTQ+ POC powerless & our self-esteem at the mercy of the patriarchy’s approval.

How can you honor your father while grieving what they may not have been able to give you? And in the process, reclaim your connection to the divine masculine that lives within you in more empowered ways & the ways we build community? 💖 by @cabro.decolonial

Hola amores <3

While I had tirisia, I had left my yarn creations on a box in my garage - unmotivated n unwilling 2 continue creating with my hands. But a friend invited me to sell my work with them in the Two Spirit Summit by @baaits_sf so those pieces were taken out, cleansed and blessed by Killa (Moon in Quechua) after a prayer. Witnessing others see its value has uplifted and reopened a path for me that I had forgotten was there.

Thank you to all who have given my slow fashion pieces a home, and have made the redistribution of money possible 2 collectives/organizations that are doing crucial work for the LGBTQ+ community in Peru. As promised, here r the receipts 4 that.

An oferring to hold next to your ears - May these little crochet guinea pigs remind you to be accountable for the actions you choose ✨

All of my crochet pieces are made with recycled yarn, and blessed through prayer underneath the light of Killa (The moon in Quechua).

As a compromise with my community, 20% of earnings will be sent to a collective in the Global South, this time I am choosing @r0sarabi0sa , a collective of LGBTQIA+ in Peru. (Evidence of donation made will be provided here)
