A time was had. Knowledge was shared. Advocacy happened! Thanks to all who joined us for the PA Reproductive and Maternal Health Summit last night in Harrisburg PA! Special thanks to panelists included Dr. Samantha Butts (Reproductive Endocrinology), Dr. Christopher Plummer (Maternal-Fetal Medicine), Venus Ricks (Doula and Patient Advocate), and Shannon Ashley Nordt (Therapist), moderator and CADE PA coordinator @dynelliawashington! We welcomed approximately 55 in-person attendees and 25 virtual participants.
Our Cade Foundation Policy Interns Sam Nwoha and Christiana Uzoije also spoke passionately about legislation supporting reproductive and maternal health for Pennsylvania residents. We were especially pleased to collect 39 advocacy letters addressed to Pennsylvania lawmakers during the event. 🕯️ October is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month.

If you’ve experienced 2 or more pregnancy losses, you may be experiencing Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (RPL). You are not alone. We have support events planned for 10/15. Please join us.

☕ Join us for Coffee with Cade on October 15 at 12 PM EST to learn more about pregnancy loss and RPL.

🕯️ Light a candle on October 15 at 7 PM to honor the babies and pregnancies losses and to show support for families affected by pregnancy and infant loss. A global event, for 24 hrs straight families throughout the world will light candles at 7p local time thus creating a global wave of light.

Local landmarks may be lit pink and blue to honor pregnancy and infant loss. In Baltimore, M&T Bank Stadium, Camden Yards, and the Hopkins Dome are among the landmarks that may be lit.

Tag a pregnancy and infant loss or RPL resource below so families know where to turn for support.

There are a lot of new experimental treatments being pushed for fertility care. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) to improve egg quality, Mitochondrial Replacement Therapy (MRT), Growth Hormone and In Vitro Gametogenasis are promoted but scientific proof is not yet available showing whether these work.

We will host a Coffee with Cade ft @dr.mindy.christianson on 11/2 to discuss these and other new experimental treatments. Tune in and bring questions!

Les voy a hablar sobre un tema muy delicado, el tema de la infertilidad. Si tú estás pasando por este camino, te digo que no lo tienes que caminar sola o solo. El camino para formar una familia se puede sentir emocional, desafiante y costoso. Y cuando buscas ayuda, quizás piensas que lo que necesitas es solamente apoyo económico.

Les voy a hablar de una organización que se llama el Cade Foundation, porque es mucho más que eso. Cade ofrece hasta diez mil dólares de apoyo económico para ayudar a las familias con los, con costos de tratamientos de fertilidad o adopción. Pero también ofrece algo que no tiene precio, y es la comunidad.

Una comunidad de personas que te entiende lo que tú estás viviendo, porque ellos lo han pasado también y pueden acompañarte en el camino. Y lo más bonito es que la comunidad se devuelve en el apoyo. Personas que algunas veces recibieron ayuda pueden regresar y ayudar a, a otras familias que están empezando su camino hacia la maternidad o paternidad.

Sharing Dr. Hammond's acceptance speech about the intersection of Torchbearing and Reproductive Health.
