Giving Students the Tools to Build a Strong Financial Future! 💸

@ca_superintendent Tony Thurmond was recognized today in Sacramento with the Personal Finance Education Champion award from @nextgenpf for his advocacy to make personal finance education available to all California high school students.

Superintendent Thurmond co-sponsored Assembly Bill 2927 (McCarty), which became law in 2024, making California the 26th state in the nation to require personal finance as a high school graduation requirement. By the 2027–28 school year, all California high schools, including charter schools, must offer a standalone, one-semester course in personal finance. Completion of the course will become a statewide graduation requirement beginning with the graduating class of 2030–31.
