For the next two weeks, we will only be open on Fridays and weekends. This is with good reason, as the barista will be bringing back some very fine goods from very fine places. Tomorrow we’re bringing our Gangsta Jazz to Who Stole The Funk Festival organized by @cafcaclub in Utrecht’s beautiful Griftpark!

We’ll hit the stage at 18u with a set full of swing, grooves, New Orleans vibes, Balkan energy, ska, and a few unexpected twists.

For our friends from the swing dance community, we’ll make sure to kick things off with plenty of dance-friendly tunes before diving into the wilder side of our repertoire.

GANGSTAJAZZ: from utrecht, the six-man ensemble famous for legendary underground performances will be bringing a mix of gypsy jazz with balkan klezmer and french swing. passionately brought with humour and a natural hip swing. These gently seasoned musicians will make sure that your fingers snap, toes tap, and bootys clap.

SYNTHICAT: Welcome to SynthiCat: A Cat that makes psychedelic pop with synthesized sounds and a synthesized face searching for perfection within imperfections. putting turkish folk and rock music in a new jacket, synthicat will set the tone for the rest of the evening!

MISHMISH: Fil mishmish is Arabic for “during apricot season” which roughly means “when Easter and Pentecost fall on the same day”. impossible. But in Mish Mish’s sets, anything can happen. From Algerian raï to disco, to Arabic pop, everything makes an appearance, as long as it’s danceable and juicy. With this upbeat sound, Mish Mish performed at NAR, Ekko, Lepeltje Lepeltje, Huis van Iemand Anders, and Schout bij Nacht.

FNIEK: she spent her summers with her yiayia on the island of Kerkyra. Classically trained, she brings a lifelong passion for music to every set. She remains close to the harmonies coming from the broader Mediterranean, while exploring music that combines folk with disco, house, and more.
In her set she plays her favourite folk lounge, from Morocco to Bosnia, to Algeria and to Greece, to Syria and Turkey and from Egypt to France (and more!).

WORMHOL: this Iberian worm will treat you to a fat Paella of Spanish Euro Disco, topped with other Spanish grooves. Pucker up and be ready to dance ibiza-chic with a pinch of sal del mar. He played at Landjuweel, Balonnenfeest and Buurland Afterparty, no newcomer to the scene! Rumour has it that he designed the new Club Cafca T-shirts…

RIMINI EXPRESS: Board the Rimini Express and step into a world where the ‘80s never ended. Digging deep into the world of Italo disco, Rimini Express brings a mix of rare finds and beloved classics, all straight from vinyl.
