September 30 is the national day for truth and reconciliation.

our business operates in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People. this territory is covered by “The Treaties of Peace and Friendship”, which Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) People first signed with the British Crown in 1725. The treaties did not deal with surrender of the lands and resources, but instead recognized Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik (Maliseet) title to lands and established the rules for what was determined to be an ongoing relationship between nations.

today we will be donating .50c from every drip coffee and $1 from every specialty beverage to the Nova Scotia Native Women’s Association. The NSNWA was founded in 1972, and has continued to offer programs, services, and advocacy support to Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ People across the province.

we will be accepting additional donations, please let us know if you would like to increase your contribution when placing your order.
our sister business @dairybarhfx is also donating $1 from every ice cream sold, they will be open until 10pm in Kjipuktuk (Halifax)

we are all treaty people. by @cafe.goodluck
