相信一眾葡撻迷對多倫多市中心的Café Belém一定不陌生。我們早前開台時亦曾介紹過這間由葡裔父子Carlos及William Oliveria主理的葡式cafe，自開業以來已憑正宗葡撻打響名堂，店內的葡式甜品與麵包深受食客追捧。最近Café Belém開設分店，並首次加入葡萄牙小食吧，將最地道的葡萄牙飲食文化帶到多倫多。

Café Belém的葡撻之所以與眾不同，在於其製作工序一點也不「快」。有別於坊間常見的即做即賣蛋撻，他們每一個葡撻都需花上數天時間製作。酥皮麵糰會提早數天準備並冷藏靜置，之後再加入大量牛油反覆摺疊、捲製再靜置。他們更刻意減少酥皮的摺疊層數，改為層次結構更厚實的做法，再將麵糰拉得極薄，務求出爐後外層香脆且層次分明。剛出爐的葡撻外脆內嫩，牛油香氣十足，每啖食落有齊濃郁蛋餡，難怪成為不少食客的心頭好。

新店除了繼續供應招牌葡撻及各款手工麵包外，亦特別新設葡萄牙小食吧Alma Lusa，葡文意指「葡萄牙精神」。為了帶出更地道的葡萄牙街頭風味，Café Belém特別邀請本地葡萄牙餐廳Mercado合作，供應多款在葡萄牙Snack Bar常見的傳統小食，包括Bolos de Bacalhau炸馬介休球、Piri-piri 雞肉三文治、Rissois葡式餃子等，總有一款啱你心水！

Café Belém in downtown Toronto is a must-know spot for Portuguese tart lovers. Run by Portuguese father-and-son duo Carlos and William Oliveira, the café is famous for its authentic pastéis de nata and handmade pastries. They’ve now opened a new location with a Portuguese snack bar, bringing real Portuguese street food to Toronto.

What makes their tarts special is time. Each tart takes days to prepare — the dough is rested, folded with lots of butter, rolled thin, and baked until crispy outside and creamy inside. Fresh out of the oven, they’re buttery, flaky, and full of rich egg custard.

The new store also features “Alma Lusa” (meaning “Portuguese spirit”), a snack bar created with Mercado, serving classic Portuguese bites like codfish cakes, piri-piri chicken sandwiches, and rissois.
