fall of 2023, i walked onto the campus of mississippi state feeling like just another nervous but excited freshman. i had NO idea what the next four years would hold, but man, was i ready.

i had no idea that i would find a home here. that i would find some of my favorite people. that i would grow into a version of myself i couldn’t even imagine. and i definitely had no idea that new maroon camp would become one of the most meaningful parts of my college experience.

now here i am three years later, and i honestly don’t know how to put into words what this place has meant to me.

from a camper to a p-staffer to an AD. i’ve gotten to experience nmc from so many different perspectives, and somehow, every single one has made me love it even more.

nmc has given me a family. it has given me memories i’ll carry forever, people i’ll love forever, and a place where i have felt so incredibly known, valued, and LOVED. it has challenged me, shaped me, and helped make me the person i am today.

as a camper, one of my maroon madness tasks was to scream, “there’s no place like new maroon camp.” i honestly remember thinking it was just a silly task.

after spending almost my entire collegiate career with this organization, i know now it was never just a phrase.

there really is no place like new maroon camp.

new maroon camp, thank you for 3 of the most unforgettable years. thank you for believing in me. thank you for trusting me. thank you for every friendship, every late night, every ugly cry, every laugh until my stomach hurt, every camper and staffer who reminded me why we do this, and every person who made this place feel like home.

a piece of my heart will always be yours.

i say it every year, but i could write a book on Tanner and all he’s taught me over the years but it just wouldn’t be enough !

this kid reminds me every day to lead with kindness, to be present, and to love people loudly and unapologetically. i wouldn’t want to be anyone else’s bubba !

hey so i’m still in shock but man am i ready for camp !

this organization has served me in so many ways over the past 3 years and i can only pray that im able to give back in the same way. and i get to do it with my best friends !
