Sometimes it all comes together. I spotted these dolphins and they led me to this mother and white calf. The dolphin zoomies around them was incredible to see.

Just a quick PSA. Not all chirps are birdies!!!

Enjoy the hike!

This mother was calling her cubs in the area. She had three older likely leaving their mom soon, cubs that were all in the area this day.

They spent some time lounging and grooming in this spot and over the years this one flat area has yielded lots of wildlife. Amazing that one little spot can be so perfect for so many animals to find a moment to rest, socialize or take a nap.

We never know when a whale will engage or if it ever will, but when you give it the right conditions on their terms you're stacking the odds towards your mind being blown.

As the world gets obsessed with Ai generated garbage there are still some of us happy to lay down in the dirt for hours, after countless hours and days studying their subject to film extraordinary moments happening on our planet.

While we argue over the merits of our lives going more and more digital until we can't determine the difference between real and not, wildlife are just doing their thing.

Go lay in the dirt for a while.

These incredible whales are some of my favorite to see. After ten years of visiting them they still mesmerize me.

Looking forward returning soon.

Wait til the end !!!! // One of my all time favorite wildlife encounters.

I got to stake out this elk kill when a friend let me know of its location after spotting it on a hike.

I went up there and found a cosy spot behind a small rock. Just big enough to sit behind and hunch over to be obscured.

The mtn lion wasn't there when I got to the rock, so I set up my things and then 5 minutes later I sat up to check and there he was. Since I wasn't expecting him to be there so soon, I made some noise as I sat up. Ooops. He saw me as he heard my jacket brush against the rock.

Now it was a game of nerves and standing one's ground.

This wasn't the last time I visited and over two weeks I had lots of moments watching this amazing animal and his friend devour this elk. Since it was the middle of winter barely recant above freezing. This meat stayed good for them to eat. For that entire time.

SOUND ON// September is one of my most favorite times of the year for this trail camera location.

Almost every year I get something new here and this time it was these two who I think might be or becoming a mating pair. However they might also be siblings catching up again.

The one closet is a male and the far one a female judging by the width of the bridge of the nose.

If they are a mating pair then I look forward to capturing some kittens here in the near future.

Who would have thought that a 30-40 tonne animal can maneuver like a fighter jet.

These whales are dolphins were engaged in some pretty rowdy play and activity. The dolphins riding the pressure wave and the whales perhaps enjoying pushing them along.

We don't see any real biological benefit in these relationships, that's not to say there isn't one, but the whales are feeding here and the dolphins aren't catching fish with these whales around.

A new baby in the world. This little one showed an instant curiosity for us in the water. With the mum very relaxed taking a nap. When mum woke up, she gathered her little one showed her to us and took a couple of breathes and went back to sleep.

Each year it's great to see another one added to an ever growing population. The major threat now however, is krill fishing in the Antarctic. This fishing is sadly killing whales by entanglement in nets, and threatening overall health of populations by directly competing with them for their food source and therefore reducing birth rates. Well done humans. I mean c'mon people are your creaky elbows worth the lives of these. Say NO to krill (omega-3) supplements.

There's a special moment in the ocean when two species (three including us) come together to express what is likely simple joy.

Swimming in the ocean with no agenda just because they can. Free will I guess!

Enjoy a truly wild scene for a moment.

Many questions are asked about these interactions between species. We can guess answers about some biological significance all we want but sometimes animals might interact just be for fun.
