It’s hard to find the words to express my gratitude for this past year ✨🎤

To every person and organization that trusted me to report, host, emcee, moderate, perform the national anthem or be the face of your campaign… thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Each and every opportunity means so much to me and I feel so privileged to continue being invited into spaces with the kind of people whose goodness, vision and drive makes it impossible not to feel optimistic and hopeful about the future.

When the world feels harsh, I think about all of you - the helpers, visionaries, educators, athletes, advocates and quietly extraordinary.

Thank you for making our communities a better place.

I was at a bar in Toronto in my early twenties when a man grabbed my butt and stuck his hand between my legs.

I was serving at a restaurant in university when a man poked me in the butt with a pair of chopsticks to get my attention.

I had a man come up to me at a patio in Toronto and tell me he wanted to impregnate me and all my friends.

I was physically assaulted in a bar in my early twenties when I refused a man’s advances.

These are just some of the more minor examples of the verbal, physical and sexual assault I have encountered as a woman (and yes, grabbing a woman’s butt without her consent is assault).

Each time I stood up for myself (thank you Mom and Dad) and each time I was made to feel as though I overreacted. Each time I wondered if I overreacted.

This is how women are silenced and when we accept even the quickest moments of sexism and misogyny (ie: locker room talk), we provide the bricks to build a house that isn’t safe.

Speaking up for ourselves is not overreacting.

It is survival, self-preservation and a refusal to continue helping build a home that isn’t safe.

And here’s the thing, the home we’re trying to build has room for men too.

Year two in the books 🎤 🎥

Late to the party because ya know… life! But, what an incredible season it was with the @cebleague

Proud of the work I did and proud of our broadcast team, those on-air and those behind the scenes that keep the machine running - many of whom are not pictured here!

There is so much prep that goes into delivering a good broadcast and I feel lucky to work with a team that is dedicated to doing so.

To the @saskatoonmamba organization, thank you for fostering a home court environment that was both high on vibes and professionalism!

To the players and coaches across the league - there wasn’t a day I didn’t look forward to being on the sidelines with all of you.

From victories to tough losses, to incredible and hard fought comebacks, stories of personal resilience, babies, engagements, records broken and families travelling from all over… I have loved telling your stories.

Until next time - can’t wait to run it back 🏀
