Up Next...The Last Laugh ✨

Emil Jannings stars as an aging hotel doorman whose life begins to unravel after he’s fired from his prestigious job. With almost no inter-titles, Murnau tells the entire story through movement, performance and Karl Freund’s famously fluid “unchained camera” technique. A landmark of silent cinema and a powerful showcase of just how much a film can say without words.

F.W. Murnau’s The Last Laugh kicks off our Faust & Late Period Murnau series. And that's just the beginning. The series continues with a special 100th anniversary screening of Faust, featuring an original score performed live on the Allen Theatre Organ at Studio Bell.
