The smaller price on the quote can distract you from what each unit costs.

For a Calgary shop or service business buying repeat supplies, start with the same specification and unit. A box, roll and case are not interchangeable.

Paste permitted quote details into Claude and try this prompt.

“Compare these packs using only the supplied details. Show item, specification, pack price, quantity, unit, currency, calculation and price per unit. Flag missing information or incompatible specifications. Keep shipping, tax and discounts separate. Do not invent conversion factors or recommend a purchase.”

Check the arithmetic yourself. Then confirm fees, storage space and how much you will actually use. The lower unit price can still mean buying stock you do not need.

Save this for your next supplier order. taken in Calgary, Alberta by @calgarypodcast

Lana Rogers, @lanamrogers of @gentlelioncomms joins @yycZAK on the Canadian Podcast for a conversation on building a business, staying sharp in a fast-changing marketing industry, and figuring out where artificial intelligence actually fits.

Leading with signature small town heart and big city drive, Lana Rogers has been immersed in the marketing and public relations industry for over two decades. After founding Gentle Lion Communications in 2016, Lana promised to bid farewell to formalities and best-kept industry secrets and redefine the marketing and communications model. At the helm of Gentle Lion Communications, Lana leads a team that merges human-centred methodologies with outside-of-the box management and execution.

Lana is consistently asked to share her knowledge and speak on Canadian marketing stages. She has worked closely with a number of the country’s top unorthodox brands to achieve autonomy, self-reliance and significant brand recognition.

Driving change in healthcare accessibility, Lana launched the Gentle Lion Foundation in 2024 to eliminate funding barriers for mental health non-profits, ensuring crucial organizations can reach the people who need them most. She also serves as Director of Advocacy and Partnerships for the Women's Health Coalition, forging partnerships that advance women's health education and empowerment.

In her spare time, you can find Lana on the Karaoke stage, or connecting with her community under her lifestyle brand Champagne Friday.

We talk about strategy, mindset, and the side of entrepreneurship people do not always show.

The pressure.
The second-guessing.
The need to keep learning while still protecting your own mental wellness.

Lana, @lanamrogers of @gentlelioncomms brings experience, honesty, and a lot of perspective to this one.

There is far more good than evil in people.

After 25 years serving with the Calgary Police Service, including years as a homicide detective, Dave Sweet has seen parts of life most of us never will.

Crime scenes. Grief. Violence. Families changed forever.

And still, that belief remains possible.

That says a lot about how we choose to see people.

Because if someone who spent his career close to the worst of human behaviour can still speak about goodness, maybe the rest of us should be slower to lose faith in it.

A powerful conversation with @davesweet14 of @unconventionalclassroom.ca on the @CanadianPodcast with @yyczak.

Stay tuned for the full episode.

🔊 A Throwback Thursday to Ralph Klein’s victory song on cassette when he won as Calgary’s Mayor. A man who put our city on the map.

Tonight I press play on that old Ralph Klein victory tape.

The tape is worn. The sound is scratchy. But the pride of Calgary still comes through loud and clear.

Ralph said leadership was about people.
Listen first. Roll up your sleeves. Get the job done.

“The Olympics should be the best big party any of us has ever been to. If it is not, we may have missed the point.”
— Ralph Klein, Mayor of Calgary, quoted in Sports Illustrated, Jan 27, 1988.

As mayor he showed the world what this city could be. He helped bring us the 1988 Winter Olympics. A moment that changed how the world saw Calgary.

He worked for Calgarians. He faced critics head on. He kept the city’s best interests at heart.

What made him remarkable was not only the big wins. It was how he connected with people. He treated everyone with respect. In the council chamber and on the street.

He reminded us that leadership is service.

Ralph Klein is remembered as a mayor who embodied Calgary’s spirit of grit, hard work, and community.

A true Calgarian.
A great man.
A leader we will never forget.

Thank you to the late and great #RalphKlein
