Love me an octave leap with wee chromatic descent for my chorus. Here’s a small snack of Purple Haze live 💜

What if the moon and the ocean were lovers?

Purple Haze is my new dreamy love song where nature reflects the romantic inner landscape and the subconscious sheds light on desire.

In creating the music video for Purple Haze, I wanted to portray a gentle side to queer romance and intimacy that is seldom seen on screen.

Thank you for receiving this piece of me so lovingly 💜

Dreams can reveal our innermost desires. I love the way @danstkes created the dreamlike quality for the Purple Haze music video. Here’s some BTS and stills.

I have my final recital for my Music Masters at Guildhall School of Music and Drama tomorrow and some new press shots to share.

I’m excited to be performing a special programme of women composers throughout Western Music history titled “Le Prime Donne” starting with Hildegarde von Bingen and ending with Rosalía’s Berghain, with interjections of prima donna archetypes within opera, as well as a sneaky piece by my mum (it’s a surprise to her and I can say on here cos she isn’t on social media).

Excited to wrap up a whirlwind of a year. by @callaofursa

Appetiser: 4.5min guided breathing exercise produced by me. Designed to slow the heart rate, calm the nervous system, and ground. Can be consumed as a part of a ‘slow’cial media routine at any time of the day.

Another year working on my war cry.

I have so many people to thank - first and foremost to my mum without whom I wouldn’t be here. She has had my back through thick and thin this year and flew with her partner all the way from Aotearoa New Zealand to support me in my final recital, it meant the world to have her there.

To all my friends and family for all their continued love and support, to everyone who contributed to my fundraising campaign to make this huge opportunity possible. To my sisters for all the late night and early morning phone calls. To my father Dean and to Biz.

To @tylerkennedystent for flying from Morocco to be my wingman for those couple of days and for taking these performance pics.

To my guiding stars for this year, my teachers Janice Chapman and Marie Vassiliou, who have helped me reconnect with a beauty and freedom in my voice.

To my coach Mike Pugh who has been an essential cheerleader and well of wisdom.

To all the staff I’ve had the privilege of learning from this year and to my colleagues at Guildhall - you all inspire me.

To @wengsoontee for his beautiful playing and to the Berghain ensemble for helping to create something really special to close this recital.

Music at the end of the day is about a transmission of emotion and opening us up to the depths of our humanity. Congratulations to everyone else who has also completed such a huge year.

Lots of love

Close your eyes and it could be the middle of the 19th century. Fanny Hansel née Mendelssohn is Felix’s lesser known sister who was actively discouraged from pursuing composition, unlike her brother. This lilting lieder is a lament of abandonment and was part of my masters recital celebrating women composers.

“The life of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel is compelling proof that women’s failure to ‘compete’ with men on the compositional playing-field has been the result of social prejudice and patriarchal mores…” (Richard Taruskin)
