Happy #nationalfriedriceday! 🍚🔥 This might be one of my favorite food holidays because it celebrates one of our favorite dishes here: Cuban Fried Rice. Made to order in our woks, it features: roasted lechon, bacon, caramelized pineapple, plantains, onions, red peppers, scallions, garlic, egg and dark soy. Stir fried with jasmine rice and garnished with toasted sesame seeds and Sol sauce.

Meet Chef Francis Camilo, our new Executive Chef at Calle Sol Plaza Midwood. 👋

For Chef Francis, food has always been about more than what’s on the plate. His love of cooking started at his grandmother’s table, where weekends meant long meals surrounded by family, laughter and stories.

Over an 18-year culinary career, he’s taken that foundation from Nobu 57 in New York to some of Charlotte’s top kitchens, including the Grand Bohemian, The Ritz-Carlton and Marriott City Center.

Now at Calle Sol, he’s bringing it all back to what matters most: staying true to who you are, never compromising on quality and creating food that makes people feel at home.

His pick from the menu? The Lentil Cazuela. Simple, comforting and rooted in a dish found across Latin cultures. As Chef Francis puts it, “It’s heritage. It brings back memories.”
