As we approach the mid year point, I thought I’d give a little re-introduction…

Hi, I’m Angela!☺️
As a child my favourite lesson at school was always art and I would’ve loved to go to art college and become an artist, but life took another turn for me. I’m not quite sure how but I ended up in an office job!

I’ve found lots of things that others find easy seem more difficult for me somehow - for as long as I can remember - I’m not good at explaining why, and a bigger challenge came in September’24 when the company that I worked for had to close leaving me redundant from a job I thought I’d retire at. It took me a long time to come to terms with the feelings that brought up, and when I was diagnosed with #adhd in March last year I realised I have a lot to learn about myself - including not being so self-doubting.

I’d always loved “fancy writing” as well as art, and when our eldest daughter asked me to do the signage for their wedding in ‘21, I learned and loved modern calligraphy. In April last year I taught a group of friends the basics, then pulled up my big girl pants and booked myself to run my first paid workshop in June, at a local gallery…I’m fairly sure the nervous energy got me through those 3 hours and I got home buzzing!!! Apparently I can teach, and people thoroughly enjoyed it, and best of all, I loved it!!

This is now my only income, so in December I set myself a challenge - I’d like to get a workshop (calligraphy or Folk Art) booked into every month this year, and so far it’s going really well! Alongside the calligraphy I’ve also recaptured my loved of painting, and I’m thrilled to be taking on commissions - my most recent being some wedding calligraphy and bridal party wine bottles. Of course it doesn’t replace my part time job, but I’m working hard and can honestly say I’ve felt so much more relaxed and fulfilled building this tiny little business! I’m so very grateful to everyone who supports me, whether that’s a like, comment, share or even just cheering me on from the sidelines…thank you🥰

I’m taking part in #TheSummerReset2026 challenge, with @businesssecretsclub and I’m hoping this will help me grow☺️

A little late to the “new year party” but here’s my 2025 recap…actually it’s my story since being made redundant in September 2024. For various reasons I decided to follow my dream of turning my hobby of calligraphy and art into a business!

In the opening clip you’ll see me with my husband Nigel, who has not only supported but encouraged me every step of this journey. I’ve also had so much love, understanding and support from my daughters @kirsty_forder and @ssssibif as well as my Mum, Sister and other family members. Some special friends have been by my side too…you know who you are🥰

In 2025 I met some fabulous ladies, some of whom are shown here. They listened to my hopes and goals and encouraged me to chase my dreams.

I’ve run calligraphy workshops, a couple of one to ones, taken on bespoke commissions and opened an Etsy shop.

Until making this reel (which took me way too long…we’re talking hours!!) I wasn’t really feeling like I’d achieved much last year. Having ADHD makes some things quite a challenge for me, and having been diagnosed in March I realise I need to give myself more grace and understanding. I struggled to decide which photos and videos to add to this, should it be a certain (probably much shorter) length, which of the “trending” audios to use…in the end, as I said to my family while they wait patiently for me to cook dinner, I just decided to use what I like, and the track I’ve chosen is one that I was absolutely hyper focused on towards the end of 2024, the beginning of this story. As I watched my preview I realise that I’m really quite proud of what I’ve achieved. So yes, it’s long, you don’t need to watch it all (I’d love it if you do😊) but I will look back on these memories and say “I did that!” and I’m so thankful for your support🥰xx by @calligrabloom
