My version of “The Artist vs. The Art” inspired by Ian Barnard.

If you are new to my page, welcome. My name is Christy Toney (CT), and I’m a Chicago based calligrapher and lettering artist. I specialize in custom sign work and am entering my 17th wedding & event season. What?

I have a feeling that 2024 is going to be unbelievably busy. The signs are all there and I hope my colleagues are seeing the same thing. Today’s podcast is going to be all about engagement season.

I work so hard during a typical season and honestly just want to get some sleep but I just wanted to wave hello and encourage couples to book early this year because my inbox right now is reminiscent of 2021. If you HAVE reached out I’m replying to everyone today!

Please enjoy the rest of the holiday everyone and ask me anything in the comments.

The @letteringstylechallenge was tricky in some places and I learned a LOT! Thanks for hosting, can’t wait til’ next year! by @calligraphybyct

Now y’all know I love a beautifully curated experience, good company, and an opportunity to make new connections! 🖤🥂

I had a wonderful evening at The Noted Dinner Series, created by Charlene Jefferson-Johnson, hosted at Gaia Restaurant.

The décor was elegant, the all-black dress code was giving sophistication, and EVERYONE understood the assignment! And baby, those lamb chops were absolutely AMAZING! That signature amaretto cocktail was a winner, too!

Charlene, congratulations on another beautiful evening! Already looking forward to the next one!

✨ NEXT UP: February 6, 2027, at Taste 222!

Don’t wait until you see everybody else’s pictures! Purchase your tickets, secure your seat at the table, and come experience The Noted Dinner Series for yourself! 🥂

Happy 1st anniversary guys! You got a beautiful day! 😍😍😍 #chalkart #chalkartist by @calligraphybyct

SO MANY memories here! I fell in love with and also became a student of lettering at this venue. I’ll never forget the sweet couples, the corporate clients, private events and all the seemingly impossible design solutions that were installed here!

Fragrance commission, I love sneaking the bottle back into mostly undisturbed packaging so the recipient can be really surprised upon opening!
