POSTS STORIES REELS

A long overdue update of the last couple weeks…

We had another brilliant camp at Somerford last weekend. The only two photos I managed to take were of some of the team watching Team 🇬🇧 smash it out in Aachen🥇, and a familiar face who came to camp loving life with his new rider🧡
Other than that it was a very long couple of days, but as I said to one of the riders over dinner, there are not many jobs out there where you can feel more alive at the end of a very long day than at the start…. Always so much fun, and it’s great to watch the progression of both horse and rider from the first flatwork session to the last XC session.
Looking forward to the next one already👊🏽

I was also kindly invited to the preview evening of the Horses Inside Out Equine Anatomy Exhibition 2026 which has now come to an end today. Gillian has once again outdone herself on building an incredible learning environment for all us to better understand our horses, how we train them, and how we look after them, and I hugely encourage anyone to go next year.

Lots of good results coming in, and a huge congratulations to those of you who have had successful runs at recent Regional Finals. Lots of hard work paying off👏🏼👏🏼

I’m also having fun getting to know 4 year old Jack at home who has now successfully jumped his first corners and skinny brushes🔥

Slightly daunting that there is only two months left of the season, but plenty of training opportunities to get involved in all around the country. by @callumbanfield

Badminton Horse Trials 2026 over and out 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

What a brilliant week of sport, kicked off with supporting riders in the Badminton Grassroots Championships in both the BE90 and BE100 classes, through to an epic weekend for Ros and Walter yet again🏆🥇

Meanwhile lots of other brilliant successes over the weekend including a 🥇 for Emily du Luart in the Novice at Moreton Morrell, several other double clears and solid results; plus a special mention to Jemima Wilson for shaving 5 penalties off her most recent DR mark to finish 4th… and a special orange pony looking very happy with his new jockey🧡

After a long exam day on Monday, I’m pleased to share that I am now a @britisheventing Level 3 Coach🙏🏻

A big thank you to Andrew Fletcher and Christie Wright for your guidance; assessors Yogi Breisner, Jill Day and Pat Crann for your kind words; and of course to Caroline Moore for starting me out on this journey❤️

When you spend a lot of time on the road, often on your own, it was quite nice to have lots of positive feedback from some brilliant people.

Bring on the 2026 season💪🏽 #MIH by @callumbanfield

We chose to ride them.
So it is our responsibility to look at them, and to figure out how they are working.

A powerful statement from Yogi Breisner FBHS opening up the Performance Mentoring Programme Showcase Day.

8 incredible masterclasses, 9 world class speakers, 12 brilliant guinea pig riders, 1 special day.

An incredible day yesterday at Hartpury👊🏽

Thank you to all of the incredible speakers for sharing their wisdom, to the brilliant demo riders for putting themselves in the spotlight, and to the audience for going out of their way to make the trip down, all in an effort to do and be better, as well as a big thank you to Saffron and the rest of the team for hosting.

It was great fun to pull the avengers of the sport together, all of whom I love learning from in my own personal bid to get to the top of my game.

One of the main reasons this day came about was from missing one of my annual highlights, Caroline and Ros’ demonstrations, so it was fitting to run the day in Caroline’s and the Performance Mentoring Programmes honour. No doubt Caroline would have been proud of all of the PMP riders who showcased that you can ride competitively, yet compassionately.

Well done all.
Look forward to seeing you at the next one 🔜

The last lesson of 2025 complete✔️

From a very young age I was determined to have a job or career that I love, and to spend my time with people that I enjoy being around; and I’m incredibly grateful to tick those two boxes week in, week out.
Grateful to be excited to drive to work and grateful that I can finish a day feeling fulfilled and energised.

Looking forward to seeing all of you in the New Year, swipe for January dates - book through my bio.

Wrapping up the year with these two legends who are lots of fun to work with and who have made huge improvements in themselves, and their horses this year.
You can spot them at Hartpury on the 3rd January😉

Happy horses jumping at @lynehamheath this week🌟🌟 by @callumbanfield

Using a filler, Cavaletti or small fence on a set distance before a jump or line is a great way of being able to build height, technicality and confidence for both horse and rider.

Particularly if you are an ‘adder’, I would encourage doing this regularly to help you build confidence riding to a fence in an undisturbed rhythm, but with the security of knowing you are ‘on a stride’.

If you are still struggling, using two together with a stride or two in between will also help calibrate your length of stride beforehand, and means if you ‘miss’ at the first, the second will act as a stabiliser to correct you. by @callumbanfield

Every course designer builds their distances based on 4 yards = 1 stride.

Therefore as riders we must calibrate our horses stride length to be 4 yards, which will enable them to meet distances well; but it is important to do this early on to be able to jump out of a rhythm and not interfere on the last few strides.

If not, you risk having to chase down a distance and flattening the canter - or chipping in, leading to an uncomfortable jump. by @callumbanfield

The season isn’t over just yet.
