We have a small number of these 10 x 10 inch prints left of Callum McNab’s (@calmanalogue) stunning and surreal photograph of the Ratcliffe-on-Soar cooling towers viewed from Redhill Marina. They’re available for a special price with the print edition of the Megawatt Valley newspaper. If you’re interested, act fast as they’re almost gone! Tap the shop link in my bio if you’d like to snap one up.

*The prints come unframed but will fit many off-the-shelf frames, or we’d be happy to recommend custom framing options if you’re in the Nottingham / East Midlands area. by @calmanalogue

🚨Control room announcement: Megawatt Valley newspapers are now available to purchase online! Head to my shop via the link in my bio 🚨

I know many of you have been waiting for copies to become available — we’ve had some technical difficulties to work through, so apologies for the delay and thank you for bearing with us. We’re really proud of the newspaper and very happy to finally be able to share it with you.

Megawatt Valley brings together photographs by myself and Callum McNab (@calmanalogue) documenting the architecture and infrastructure of power generation in Nottinghamshire, alongside an introductory essay by architectural historian Chris Matthews (@chrismatthews82)

The photographs focus on two of the valley’s former giants: West Burton and Ratcliffe-on-Soar — the UK’s last coal-fired power station, which closed in 2024 and now faces demolition.

Part of the motivation for making the newspaper was to raise awareness of the @c20society campaign to preserve at least one set of cooling towers, in respect of their importance to Britain’s industrial heritage. You can find a link in my bio to learn more about the campaign and sign the petition.

Copies are available individually, or together with a 10 × 10 inch C-Type print of Ratcliffe-on-Soar’s cooling towers by Callum McNab. Printed by @newspaperclub on 80gsm bright recycled newsprint.

Thanks again to everyone who came along to see us at @lensfayre a couple of weeks ago, contributed to the open call exhibition, or has followed and supported the project along the way — we really appreciate the support.

What a great day it was yesterday! Thanks so much to everyone who braved the rain to come down and support us. Great to meet many of you who contributed to the open call, the variety of different perspectives of the cooling towers was fantastic to see.

Lots of conversations were had about the significance of these impressive structures, and what they mean to people. Thanks to everyone who scanned the QR code to learn about the @c20society campaign to protect cooling towers. If it was a bit too wet and windy for you to manage that yesterday, please visit c20society.org.uk/cooling-towers or follow the link in my bio to learn more and sign the petition.

Special thanks to @lensfayre for hosting us, @doyouneedacoffee for keeping us fuelled, @ryangjheath_ for his spectacular cooling tower incense burner display and @an_orrdinary_journey for these excellent pictures.

Megawatt Valley newspapers will be available to purchase online soon, bear with us! I will post an update here when they’re ready to go. taken in Sneinton Market Avenues by @calmanalogue

Ahead of the Megawatt Valley launch day tomorrow, I thought I’d share a few more images from for publication. Cal McNab’s stunning exterior photographs of cooling towers, pylons, and the architecture of energy sit alongside my interior studies of the machinery that powers it. Together, the two bodies of work trace power from the landscape it shapes to the monumental apparatus that generates it.

Join us tomorrow outside @lensfayre on Sneinton Market, Nottingham, 11am - 4pm.

The forecast looks a little on the stormy side, so perhaps gear up for rain! We have a gazebo and @doyouneedacoffee will be there serving hot coffees to help us battle the weather.

The open call exhibition will be in the covered area along the side of the unit to protect the prints from the rain.

Hope to see you there! by @calmanalogue

A sample copy of the Megawatt Valley newspaper arrived this afternoon from @newspaperclub! A few minor tweaks I need to make before printing the full run, but I’m very pleased with how it’s looking.

Sneak peek of the opening spread here featuring @calmanalogue’s golden hour Ratcliffe-on-Soar and @chrismatthews82’s brilliant introductory text 👀
