POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

They say every picture tells a story, but I believe the best stories are the ones that are lived, not staged. 📽️✨

I’m Calvin, a filmmaker based here in Tanzania. My heart has always been in documentary work—the kind that takes me into the heart of our land and into the lives of our communities. For me, film isn’t just about beautiful shots; it’s about presence, respect, and giving a voice to the truth.

I’m starting this journey to share the faces, the cultures, and the “behind the scenes” moments of the projects I’m working on. If you love visual storytelling or are curious about the real stories of our people, I’m glad you’re here. 🇹🇿

Let’s tell some stories together.

🌱 From the conference room to the field seeing Tanzania’s horticulture sector in action. 🇹🇿

Another story from the 153rd IPU Assembly in Arusha!

IPU delegates visited TAHA’s Onion & Potatoes Cluster Irrigation Scheme to learn how the project supports farmers and strengthens Tanzania’s horticultural sector.

With support from WFP and Mastercard, through TAHA, the cluster project highlights the importance of partnerships in supporting agricultural development and improving opportunities for farming communities.

🎬 Our cameras are capturing these visits, the people behind the work, and the stories of impact happening on the ground.

More stories from this busy week coming soon!

As the 153rd IPU Assembly brings parliamentarians and international guests to Arusha, there is another side of this week happening beyond the conference rooms delegations visiting Tanzania to learn, connect and understand the work happening on the ground.

We’ve been commissioned by the Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) to document a series of these visits, beginning with the Norwegian delegation, who visited TAHA to learn more about Tanzania’s horticultural sector and the people working to grow it.

What you see here is a small glimpse behind the scenes from the editing timeline to the final story.

And this is just the beginning.

Over the past 3 days, we have been documenting visits involving delegations and organisations from Ireland, Thailand, Italy, WFP, UNICEF and others.

For me, this is more than event coverage.

It is about documenting the conversations, people, places and connections that shape how Tanzania is seen and understood by the world.

More stories from this busy week in Arusha coming soon.

I came across this photograph on the wall at the Wine To Water office Arusha, a photograph I captured while documenting the work in the field.

Seeing it printed, framed, and displayed months after I took it was a beautiful reminder of why I believe in visual storytelling.

Behind every photograph is a story. Behind every story are people, places, challenges and moments worth remembering.

Grateful to everyone who trusted me to document these moments.

Behind the moment. 🎥

While everyone is experiencing the event, there’s a whole different story happening behind the scenes.

Live production reminds me that storytelling isn’t always about being in front of the camera. Sometimes, it’s about making sure the story reaches everyone wherever they are.

From documentaries to live events, I’m always interested in finding new ways to connect people through stories.

The audience sees the moment. We build the connection.

What happens when the land you have always known begins to change?

I spent time with a young Datooga woman and her community, observing what life looks like as the landscape around them changes.

This became Echoes of a Changing World.
🎬 The full documentary is now on YouTube.
Watch through the link in my bio.

If you watch it, I’d love to know what stays with you.

What happens when the land you’ve always depended on begins to change?

For one young Datooga woman, it’s a question she lives with every day.

Today, I’m proud to share the official trailer for Echoes of a Changing World. This documentary explores the intersection of climate, culture, identity, and resilience through the voices of those living it.

This story isn’t told through statistics.
It’s told through lived experience.

I hope this trailer gives you a glimpse into a story that deserves to be seen.

🎥 Full documentary coming soon.

Every community has a story. Some are heard. Others slowly disappear.

Early this year, I worked on a documentary that follows a young Datooga woman as she navigates life in a changing climate.

This isn’t just a film about climate change.

It’s about identity, resilience, tradition, and the quiet strength of people adapting to a world that is changing around them.
“Echoes of a Changing World” is a story I’ve been honoured to tell.

Looking forward to sharing it with you soon.

The power of a story lies in how well you listen. As we continue dropping our exclusive recaps from the #Youth4Nature festival over the weekend, we are incredibly proud to highlight an impactful session led by our very own Content Creator, Calvin Akyoo! 🎥✨

Calvin took the stage to host a session titled: "The Power of Listening: Telling Impact Stories That Drive Change." In a world full of noise, Calvin drove home a powerful truth—to tell authentic, deeply moving stories about conservation and communities, we must first learn to truly listen. He shared invaluable insights on how capturing real human experiences can bridge the gap between climate action and global impact, inspiring the audience to use their voices (and ears) for change.

We’re not done sharing the gems from Y4N just yet! This is only day two of our recap week.

Stay tuned to our pages as we continue bringing you more highlights of our incredible journey at the festival! 🌍🔥

Excited to be joining Youth4Nature 2026 in Arusha!

I’ll be speaking on “The Power of Listening: Telling Impact Stories That Drive Change” a conversation about how authentic storytelling can amplify community voices, inspire action, and create meaningful impact for people and nature.

As a documentary filmmaker and visual storyteller, I’ve learned that the most powerful stories often begin with listening. I’m looking forward to sharing experiences from the field, connecting with young conservation leaders, and exploring how storytelling can help shape a more sustainable future.
