“Sessions like these are what turn good writing into real impact.” — @angiemuka During our #SinemaConnectNorth residency, Angela reflected on how connecting climate justice, impact producing, and storytelling masterclasses helps us tell our local stories with genuine truth. To our #SinemaConnectNorth family ,do you agree with Angela’s reflection? How did this residency reshape the way you’re approaching your #creativefilmmaking ? @calvin_akyoo @_neema_mussa @realnyaki @director_nice1 @aprovisuals @hoya.mj @dedan_gospel @victorgatonye The Sinema Connect North Project is supported by VIJANA@rtWORK: Creative Youth for Social Cohesion Across Tanzania and implemented by Goethe-Institut Tanzania in partnership with Culture and Development East Africa @cdeatz with financial support from the European Union (EU).

What happens when the land you have always known begins to change? I spent time with a young Datooga woman and her community, observing what life looks like as the landscape around them changes. This became Echoes of a Changing World. 🎬 The full documentary is now on YouTube. Watch through the link in my bio. If you watch it, I’d love to know what stays with you. #documentaryfilm #climatechange #tanzania #datooga #climatestories

What happens when the land you’ve always depended on begins to change? For one young Datooga woman, it’s a question she lives with every day. Today, I’m proud to share the official trailer for Echoes of a Changing World. This documentary explores the intersection of climate, culture, identity, and resilience through the voices of those living it. This story isn’t told through statistics.
It’s told through lived experience. I hope this trailer gives you a glimpse into a story that deserves to be seen. 🎥 Full documentary coming soon. Made with support from @thejengasauti @medeatanzania @youthhubarusha #climatedocumentary #impactfilm #storytelling #documentary #tanzania

Every community has a story. Some are heard. Others slowly disappear. Early this year, I worked on a documentary that follows a young Datooga woman as she navigates life in a changing climate. This isn’t just a film about climate change.
It’s about identity, resilience, tradition, and the quiet strength of people adapting to a world that is changing around them. “Echoes of a Changing World” is a story I’ve been honoured to tell. Looking forward to sharing it with you soon. The power of a story lies in how well you listen. As we continue dropping our exclusive recaps from the #Youth4Nature festival over the weekend, we are incredibly proud to highlight an impactful session led by our very own Content Creator, Calvin Akyoo! 🎥✨ Calvin took the stage to host a session titled: "The Power of Listening: Telling Impact Stories That Drive Change." In a world full of noise, Calvin drove home a powerful truth—to tell authentic, deeply moving stories about conservation and communities, we must first learn to truly listen. He shared invaluable insights on how capturing real human experiences can bridge the gap between climate action and global impact, inspiring the audience to use their voices (and ears) for change. We’re not done sharing the gems from Y4N just yet! This is only day two of our recap week. Stay tuned to our pages as we continue bringing you more highlights of our incredible journey at the festival! 🌍🔥 @youth4natureconference @calvin_akyoo #CarbonTanzania #Youth4Nature #Y4N #StorytellingForChange

Excited to be joining Youth4Nature 2026 in Arusha! I’ll be speaking on “The Power of Listening: Telling Impact Stories That Drive Change” a conversation about how authentic storytelling can amplify community voices, inspire action, and create meaningful impact for people and nature. As a documentary filmmaker and visual storyteller, I’ve learned that the most powerful stories often begin with listening. I’m looking forward to sharing experiences from the field, connecting with young conservation leaders, and exploring how storytelling can help shape a more sustainable future. @youth4natureconference @carbontanzania See you in Arusha! 🌍🎥🌿 #y4n2026 #youth4nature #storytellingforimpact #documentaryfilmmaking #conservationstorytelling

24 Hours. 15 Filmmakers. One Cinematic Film.🔥 You’re looking at what happens when passion meets pressure! In the best way😄 The Sinema Connect North Cohort had exactly one day to: ✍️ Write a script from scratch 🎥 Rig the gear 🎭 Rehearse & Block ✂️ Edit the final cut And they Smashed It! If they can do this in a day, imagine what they’re going to do in June!🤭 The Sinema Connect North project is part of VIJANA@rtWORK: Creative Youth for Social Cohesion Across Tanzania, implemented by Goethe-Institut Tanzania in partnership with Culture and Development East Africa @cdeatz with financial support from the European Union (EU).

That was the daily journey not for school, not for play, but for water. At Njia Panda Primary School, children carried the weight of this reality for years. Relying on unsafe rainwater, their health, education, and future were constantly at risk. Today, that story changes. This documentary captures a powerful transformation one rooted in access, dignity, and hope. It’s a story of resilience, community, and what happens when the right support meets real need. We are proud to bring this story to life. Produced by @liveeventstanzania Written by @dedan_gospel Directed & Produced by Calvin Akyoo Special thanks to @winetowater and @foundationgrandcircle for making this impact possible. #WaterIsLife #ImpactStory #Tanzania #DocumentaryFilmmaking #ChangeMakers StorytellingForImpact

If you think you’ve seen climate advocacy, think again.😃 We just wrapped an intensive 3-day masterclass with 15 of the brightest young filmmakers from Arusha and Dar es Salaam, and the energy was electric! The beauty wasn’t just in the technical training, it was in seeing the creatives take the heavy, often academic language of Climate Justice and translate it into a visual language that speaks to the heart. They didn’t just study the theoretical parts, they translated it into action! Infusing their refined Impact Producing skills into a stunning two-scene short film. Centering on a young indigenous girl as she braces for the uncertainty of the coming floods, the film forces us to confront the raw human cost of a shifting climate. It’s no longer about weather patterns, it’s about her home, her family, and a future caught in the rain. Our filmmakers are currently back in the lab, sharpening their scripts and preparing for the main shoot this June. It’s time we stopped talking about the weather and started looking at the human face of the climate crisis.
