Have you tried trying ? by @cam.betterforever

One bad morning doesn’t erase the progress you’ve made

Last night I spent three hours sitting on a hard chair in a ballroom, celebrating a friend receiving an award

This morning, my sciatica was the worst it’s been in a long long time

It took a few minutes just to roll myself out of bed, then I stumbled into my office and got down on the floor to start moving through my rehab drills.

Frustrating as hell, especially when things have been improving

But this is part of injury recovery that people need to understand

Progress is not always linear ( rarely ever )

You can be getting stronger, moving better and doing more, and still have a day that feels like you’ve gone backwards.

Pain deserves attention, but every flare up doesn’t need to become a reason to panic or abandon the plan

The goal this morning was to get moving, work through what I could tolerate and get my day started

Some days you have more to give than others, but you still have to give 100% of what you have available on that day

Getting better takes consistency, patience and the willingness to keep putting the work in when it’s frustrating.

I constantly remind myself to not lose sight of the bigger picture because of one rough day

A setback is something to work through, not a reason to give up by @cam.betterforever

Prolotherapy has been a game changer for my back pain

In my experience, the injection opens the door, but the rehab is what gets me through it.

I’m giving away the exact rehab plan I’m following for FREE. Comment PLAN and I’ll send it over. 💪

Studies worth reading:
• Kim et al., 2010 — Longer-lasting joint pain relief with prolotherapy compared with steroid injections.
• Cusi et al., 2010 — Improved function following SI ligament prolotherapy. by @cam.betterforever

Rest is not a rehab plan.

Dahm et al., Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews; Foster et al., The Lancet, 2018.

(This is my own situation and I’m working with my clinician. Red flags that need medical attention: progressive weakness, numbness in the groin area, loss of bladder or bowel control) by @cam.betterforever

I hurt my back, now what !?

on Sunday morning, I injured my back while training

There was a brief “ oh shit “ moment where i must admit i panicked. But I quickly remembered; I have been here before, I know what to do, I know that it works. Rehab starts now

Monday morning, I was assessed and we figured out that I had torn my iliolumbar ligament and sprained a lumbar facet (Side-note: it is absolutely insane how much pain this tiny little ligament can cause ( it is about 3cm on average ) )

As much as this does suck, I have been wanting to get back into posting on social media and to be fully transparent, I really struggle with what to post.

So - I am taking this as an opportunity to revive my social media whilst hopefully helping a few people along the way

If you know someone who may benefit from this series

“I hurt my back, now what!?”

Send this to them and I would be happy to answer any questions!

See you for part 2 tomorrow by @cam.betterforever

Most treatments for back pain are what we call
“ Glue Methods”. They try to fix the site of damage.

Glue methods include: Massage, Chiropractic adjustments, Injections, Surgery, Bracing

They have 2 major problems.

Problem 1: They can only return the structure to the same strength it had when it failed

Problem 2: They don’t address why the structure actually failed in the first place

So if the underlying reason is still there? The glue doesn’t hold. So you go back. Still doesn’t hold

The solution isn’t better glue. It’s building the structure so much stronger that the cracks stop mattering

That’s what a targeted strengthening program actually does. Even when the injury can’t be fixed

How we accidentally became pain and movement specialists…

We didn’t originally set out to help people in pain. It was a purpose that found us.

We started as and still are an elite training service, working with some of the world’s strongest athletes. We work with people who push the limits of their bodies and often find them.

It became quickly apparent that the most important thing we could do for them was keep them in the game - so we developed our own systems to keep elite performers performing and returning to play with near zero percent re-injury rates.

What we didn’t consider is that the same system designed for top level athletes was working for pretty much anyone in pain, with success levels well beyond the industry average.

Pretty soon 75+% of our referrals were “unsolvable” pain based cases, and it was here we truly found our passion - to educate, inspire and empower those living in pain to once again thrive and regain their lives

We’re really proud of what we’ve been able to do in our little corner of the world, but we refuse to stop there, so we’ve teamed up with some of the best of the best in the medical world and are pushing to make a real change

And we can’t wait to share it with you when it’s ready. #blacksmithfitness #strong #rehab #fitness #livebetter #painscience #tricitiesstrongestgym by @cam.betterforever
