I'm sharing this haunting graphic by @coinswallow because it's the first thing I thought of after reading about the Cornell 57. No, that's not a typo - apparently there were 57 men in that chat and not one of them had the moral strength to intervene.

In France there is a crime: "Non-assistance to a person in danger". All 57 committed at least this crime that night at @cornelluniversity .

Not committing SA is far too low a bar for "good men".

If you aspire to be a good man, not just a "good man", be the change we need. Now. Only men can end #rapeculture .

(Sadly, I have been saying this for 37 years, during which both Clarence Thomas and Brett Kavanaugh climbed to the Supreme Court, and a r*pist became POTUS)

The first photo shows a hot air balloon above Montreux - in a world on the cusp of changing from night into day?

[I couldn't figure out how to make my added text smaller, but didn't want to share Coinswallow's May 8, 2024 graphic without attribution. Check out her page for more of that post]

This summer has hit hard. 4 or 5 heatwaves on both of my continents. Cracked, parched earth, missing waterfalls, shrunken rivers. Hundreds of thousands of hectares literally burned or still burning, air choked with smoke hundeds of miles away. Thousands of our fellow humans died from the heat, couldn't live through it to feel the cool breath of autumn. And I have no quantifications for the suffering and death of our animal and plant kin, the lost forests, the ecosystems lost, the soil organisms. I am afraid of next summer.

And - the berries! Transformation of heat into abundant overflowing sweetness. I am staggered.
