When I look at my earliest days in the studio, I’m reminded of the intense hunger I had to pursue a creative path. I had no idea what it would look like, but I forged a way forward with whatever was in my hands at the time, both metaphorically and literally.

I could never have imagined that 16 years later, my life would feel so rich in making art and helping others understand the process too.

It took me almost a decade to figure out what felt distinctly my work. It’s been a labour of love. Nothing has happened overnight, from the growth of my painting skills to the beautiful studio I now call my own.

After a life altering diagnosis, and walking alongside family and friends through similar experiences, I’ve become more passionate about speaking openly about women’s health. People’s stories have always interested me in art making. Now, womanhood, friendship and the shifting terrain of our lives are subjects I’m drawn to with the same intensity I felt at the beginning: the feeling of a fire being lit for something I can’t quite see yet.

I hope what people recognise in my work is more than a growth in skill. I hope they see how life has shaped the paintings. I’ve always admired artists whose work is deeply connected to their own experiences, and I hope that those who connect with mine feel seen, and can exhale knowing there is beauty in what we share.

Love being able to promote places i GENUINELY value. I have been a paying customer at @guysgrooming for well over a decade. So when the opportunity arose to drag Dad along for a trim and treatment i jumped at the opportunity! (He usually finds the cheapest Barber in a mall so this was special!).

If you are unsure of what to get Dad for Father's day, grab himca voucher from the team. They do pretty much anything he could want. (The massages are AMAZING and honestly we men don't do "treat yourself" well at all)

**Warning, emotional ranting post following!**
FINISHED
Those close to me know that the past 6 month have been EXTREMELY trying to say the least. Going through a break up, battling to keep my house, all whilst taking on one of the toughest career progression/courses you can undergo in the Fire brigade. Stepping back from being a firefighter was not a career progression i envisaged for myself this soon, but the opportunity arose and my body and head told me i needed to seize it.
I can proudly say that today i graduated SODP22 as a Station Officer.
I honestly have an insanely long list of people to thank, not the least of whom being my Family who have supported me in numerous ways (including financially) through this period, my SODP colleagues and instructors who have quite literally and physically carried me through this course (and have been inhumanly patient with me and my shenanigans), and finally the multiple people who have called, messaged, checked in to make sure i am ok, and even have messaged to congratulate me. I am doing my best to get back to you all ASAP.

For now, im just going to gtake a few days to celebrate and smile at what we have gone through.

For those who dont know, the Station Officer rank is a challenging leadership role where you move from physically fighting the fires, to the more strategic and tactical position of being the decision maker at the multitude of incidents we attend. You still turn out with the crews but take a command instead of tasking role. This does not come naturally to Firefighters who just want to get in and fix the problem. The images attached are some examples (yes im in the pictures) of the fires, rescues, HAZMAT and many other jobs we were made to control to prove our capability before graduating. Thank you to DFES for the opportunity.
