A window into my world lately. September was a month of expansion and contraction. Expanding into the outdoors, into love, into creativity and self belief, slowly and devotedly bringing my dreams to life. Contracting into my inner world, letting life rearrange me, writing, writing, writing to make sense of it all, reflecting to see how far I have come, tears of gratitude, gazing at the moon and the glimmering skyline and knowing that it will continue in this way— the expansion, the contraction, the shedding, the growth, the dreams and accomplishments. Sometimes the city feels like a storm
that swirls around me until I lose my footing.
I get swept away and start spinning,
up, up, away from the ground.
Into the thick air of the darkening sky.
The wind roars and I see trees below shake and tousle.
My eyes wide open,
I see my hands,
my limbs,
my body,
yet I don’t feel connected.
Mind – body – soul,
no longer one.

I think the work of an artist is wholly embodied. Entwined with your life, with your experiences and with the deepest parts of yourself. You are constantly trying to express the ineffable— trying to make the unseen seen. The work of an artist is some kind of endless spool of thread. The more you pull, the more unravels.
