Alongside the Weight Watchers brand anthem TV commercial, we made nine other TV commercials, each centred around one person’s experience. Here’s two. These were my favourite part of the project. When I’m working with real people rather than performers, directing becomes about listening and building a collaborative relationship. Knowing when to go with it, when to gently push further, and when to turn the music up and dance. I’m incredibly proud of photographing and directing real stories for the global Weight Watchers rebrand. At the heart of the campaign were real people sharing very personal experiences of change, not simply changes to their bodies, but to their health, relationships, confidence and sense of self. Here’s the global TV commercial I directed for the Weight Watchers rebrand. We created nine individual stories alongside this launch film, all built around real members and their experiences of change. My job was to build trust and confidence, so we could capture something honest, while still making a film with the scale and confidence of a global campaign. The work ran internationally across TV, outdoor and billboards, including Times Square, NYC!! A pretty big dream of mine. The @kulturytring festival is over but the images will still be at @buskerudkunstsenter for the next couple weeks. I will treasure the memories of this exhibition always. My journey with Drag Syndrome began in 2022. Watching them perform, I was immediately drawn in by their charisma and exuberance. I had the privilege of photographing them soon after for DSECTIONmagazine alongside a team of collaborators. What struck me most was how each artist brought their drag persona to life in such a bold, individual, and deeply authentic way. Since then, I’ve continued to follow their story—photographing and filming them on the road, backstage, and in moments of connection with their audiences. I’m constantly moved by the joy they generate—not only through performance, but by simply being unapologetically themselves and true masters of their craft. During KULTURYTRING, we present the exhibition Radical Beauty Project here at Buskerud Kunstsenter, with photographs by Cameron McNee. In the first section, the renowned fashion photographer presents striking portraits of performers with Down syndrome. Created in close collaboration with the models, these images honour each individual’s unique identity and artistic vision, whilst inviting us to question our own perceptions of beauty, attractiveness, and aesthetics. The second section offers an intimate glimpse into the world of Drag Syndrome, the world’s only drag troupe comprised entirely of artists with Down syndrome. Candid backstage moments and vibrant scenes of live performances reveal the joy, passion, and deep connection these artists have with their craft and their audiences. The results are remarkable works that convey the joy of role-playing and visual experimentation and reflect the unique personalities of the main characters in impressive ways. Whether it is tender intimacy, sober realism or joy of life, Radical Beauty Project celebrates all facets of the human condition and diversity in an inclusive society.
