Today is the International Day of Peace...and the 2026 Campaign Nonviolence Action Days have officially begun & it is time to shake up the world through our global actions for peace and nonviolence 🌍

This year's call to Invest in Peace: For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day reminds us that peace takes shape through what people choose to build, practice and defend every day.

From September 21 through October 2, people and communities around the world are taking action for peace and nonviolence. Campaign Nonviolence invites us to reflect, educate and act through vigils and community gatherings, workshops and conversations, mutual aid, restorative justice, climate action, advocacy, creative demonstrations and the many other ways communities are already putting nonviolent solutions into practice.

Soo... what will your action be?

What can a picket line make impossible to ignore?

In 2026, activists gathered outside the Tunisian Embassy in Washington, D.C., to call for the release of the Sumud Four. Among them was Michael Beer of Nonviolence International, joining fellow activists in using a visible picket to draw attention to the detainees and make their demand heard.

This week, we're exploring how picketing can bring a message directly to the institution being addressed.

Despite the chronic despair we’re relentlessly taught to feel, a way forward out of the morass is being forged, step by step.

How do we know? By the rustling sound of thousands of steps—including the steps that tens of thousands of people all over the planet took over the past 12 days as they moved into action for a better world of nonviolent solutions as part of the Campaign Nonviolence Days of Action.

From Bangalore, India, to Brooklyn, New York; from Nairobi, Kenya, to Newburg, Oregon; from Dakar, Senegal, to Davenport, Iowa; from San Antonio, Texas, to Ciudad del Plata, Uruguay; and even from Carcassonne, France, to the Cox's Bazar Rohingya Refugee Camp in Bangladesh—people voted for a powerful and liberating alternative.

For all of those who made Action Days real—we thank you. Every individual. Every group. And every one of the numerous partner organizations who stepped up and stepped out to make the call for active and liberating nonviolence resound across their cities and continents.

We thank you all for your creativity. We thank you all for your gumption. We thank you all for all the energy you poured into this visible proclamation of peace.

Finally, give us the chance to thank you one more time—once you have sent us your report and pictures! Please use this link to tell the story of your event: https://form.jotform.com/260997077507167?emci=2186ac8f-acbe-f111-a6a9-000d3a56d2f7&emdi=f2e9da9b-19bf-f111-a6a9-000d3a56d2f7&ceid=26764601

Action Days 2026 are over. But our work—for nonviolent answers, for spreading the power of nonviolent change, for sustaining the web of connection and nonviolent action—continues. Let the energy of Action Days propel us forward into the challenges and joys of this journey of transformation. After all, the search for nonviolent solutions has only begun.

Pace e Bene is committed to carrying on. We invite you to do so, too!

Today, we close Campaign Nonviolence Action Days on the International Day of Nonviolence.

From September 21 - October 2nd, people across communities have organized, shared solutions, challenged violence, supported one another, and put nonviolence into practice.
That is what gives this day meaning.

Nonviolence grows through action. We build it when we interrupt harm, strengthen our communities, organize for justice, and choose methods that protect human dignity while confronting what needs to change.

So as Action Days comes to a close, carry one action forward. by @campaignnv

In their community, New Hope Community Initiative brought children, young people and community members together to reflect, educate and act on nonviolence.
Participants explored violence and conflict, learned peaceful ways to respond to challenges, and discussed how they can strengthen safety, respect, inclusion and peace in their schools and communities.

What stands out is the participation itself: young people shared their experiences, worked through practical activities, and helped shape what a culture of nonviolence can look like in everyday life.

This is what Campaign Nonviolence Action Days is all about: communities creating space to learn, organize and act together.

We’re proud to uplift the work of New Hope Community Initiative – NeHCI and the voices of the young people helping move nonviolence from principle into practice. by @campaignnv

A solution travels when people share it.

Throughout this year, people have taken the ideas behind Nonviolent Solutions into their own communities: starting conversations, organizing campaigns, contacting decision-makers, learning new practices and turning examples from elsewhere into local action.

Help the next idea travel by joining ACTION DAYS THROUGH: www.paceebene.org/action-days

Violence can be interrupted before another person gets hurt.

Cure Violence treats violence as a public health challenge. Trained violence interrupters identify risks, intervene in conflicts and work directly with communities to prevent retaliation and reduce future harm. The approach has been implemented in communities around the world.

Bring the conversation to your own city. Send information about Cure Violence to your mayor, city council or local public safety officials and ask what community-based violence prevention looks like where you live.

Learn how the model works, explore the resources and fact sheets, and find out how communities can get started.
