A HUGE thank you for a very timely blessing!

We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation of this new wakeboard boat to Camp Kawkawa!

While a boat might seem like just a piece of equipment, this one will play a huge role in our summer camp program. During the summer, our boat is on the lake almost every day, towing campers on tubes and creating some of the fun, laughter and memories that make camp so special.

Our previous boat had served us well over the years, but it was getting older and beginning to have some issues. The timing of this donation could not have been better, and we are so thankful for this incredible provision.

Gifts like this are a wonderful reminder that the ministry of Kawkawa is made possible through the faithful generosity of so many people. Whether through financial gifts, equipment, volunteer hours, or other forms of support, every contribution helps us create space for people to cultivate deeper connection with God and others.

To the donor who made this possible: thank you! We are deeply grateful, and we know this boat will be used to bless hundreds of campers for years to come.

We are quickly approaching the summer camp season and we cannot wait to welcome you all here! We are still looking for a Camp Nurse the first week of our camp. The nurse is a vital volunteer and helps us keep all of our campers and staff healthy and safe! Since the storm in February, much of our time and energy has gone into cleaning up the site and repairing the significant damage to Cabin 404.

We are incredibly thankful to Chris & Terry from RedZone Renovation Ltd for stepping in so quickly to repair the exterior, and to our very own Maintenance Director, Dave “DVD” Van Drunen, who has worked tirelessly on the interior restoration.

New drywall has been installed, mudding and taping are nearly complete, and painting has now begun. While this project was certainly unexpected, we are grateful to be ahead of schedule — at one point we weren’t sure the cabin would be ready for summer!

There is still plenty of work ahead, but we’re encouraged by the progress and thankful for everyone who has helped along the way. by @campkawkawa

🌲 Lead the Summer Program: Oversee the staff team to deliver a creative, engaging summer camp experience, coordinating closely with the Year-Round Program Director on overall direction

🌊 Manage Daily Operations & Staff: Run staff meetings, set expectations for activities, and ensure smooth day-to-day program execution while supporting and guiding team members

🔆 Foster Community: Model a positive, Christ-centered attitude, contribute to all aspects of camp life, uphold policies, and promote a respectful, energetic, and spiritually enriching environment

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Ron Blair, a former caretaker of Camp Kawkawa. Ron faithfully served the camp community, and his care and dedication left a lasting impact on this place and the many people who experienced it.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Ron’s wife Kathy and to his wider family circle during this difficult time. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out, prayed, and offered help after the recent storm. We are so grateful for the support from our community.

One of our cabins sustained significant damage and is currently unusable. We are in the process of speaking with several contractors to determine what will be involved in the repairs and what the next steps may look like.

At the same time, we are in conversation with our insurance provider. At this stage we are still trying to determine whether making a claim is the best long-term option, as the overall cost of claiming may end up being greater than the amount we receive.

In addition to the cabin damage, there is significant cleanup work across the property. There are large amounts of branches and debris throughout the site—more than what we experienced during the storm in December. Unfortunately, much of the tree work and site cleanup will not be covered by insurance.

Over the coming days we will continue assessing the damage, clearing debris, and planning repairs so that camp can be ready for the months ahead.

This past week as part of our ongoing clean up and repair work from our December storm we had a group of men from Joshua House in Abbotsford come out and help. So many people have already helped which is a blessing. We do have lots to still do but we are so grateful for the immense support from our community. by @campkawkawa
