IT’S CANCER SEASON!!! cry in public!!! shake it till your shells fall off!!! 🥲🐚✨ pride month is over (🫩) but now is the time to realllly dig deeper into what it means to be proud. when the party’s over, how do you feel? do you express yourself freely in your daily life or do you wait for the calendar to tell you when it’s your time? 28 days to be black, 30 days to be gay… girl please!! 😭can we keep this same energy year-round? can we be who we are in any setting — taking up space, moving our bodies, raising our voices, enjoying each other’s company — without fear of judgement or being caught on candid camera? can we show up for each other on a random thursday to rally around a cause that truly benefits us beyond providing entertainment value? as beautiful as june was, congregating + celebrating is just the beginning of building a real community that we can all be proud of — everyone has unique ideas, skills and talents that the world desperately needs right now! dropped stitches?? on PURPOSE??? 😅 i upcycled this knit top to be as distressed as me and now i wear it all the time — i’m feeling like @ggmadeit 🧡y’all asked for a pattern but this top was thrifted! however, this stitch-dropping process will work on anything knit in stockinette. be sure to only cut one loop so the stitches become stripes! if you cut two next to each other, you’ll get holes. after accidentally making a hole, i added a few more to make it look intentional. that’s the beauty of DIY! ♻️ would you “destroy” your unworn knits like this? 👀🧶 by @camryn_is

THANK YOU for supporting KNOT OKAY this weekend!! 🫶🏾 See you Thursday for Stitch + Fix @anotherworldbk and Sunday for the Pride Market @boyfriendcoop! 🏳️‍🌈🧶I haven’t vended recently because for a while, I had nothing to show. I was feeling so creatively stifled by the pressure to maintain my rep as “the crochet girl” that I avoided making anything at all 🫩 Once I freed myself from the imaginary box of a “niche”, I had so much more creative freedom! This weekend was very special to me because I got to debut my first pieces of upcycled jewelry, clothes and accessories for @shopknotokay ✨ I brought back all my old favorite techniques - beading, bleaching, painting - and you all loved it! Thank you for reminding me I can’t be a singular expression of myself when there’s too many manifestations… you get it! 🥹🫶🏾Gays, you’re next! Denim Day pt 2 @blackgirlssew x @fashionweekbrooklyn 💙Thank you again @harrietsbyhekima for taking me out of my comfort zone and giving me the opportunity to reclaim my body + my beauty my way! It’s been hard to recover from the outcome of my case, but I am not a victim. I am not damaged. I am not ashamed. I survived DV/SA and I’m a stronger, better, more empowered person because of it! 🦋 @peaceovrviolnce PROTECT BLACK WOMEN like your life depends on it, because it does! This Mental Health Awareness Month, consider the mental, emotional and physical impact that misogyny and r*pe culture has on the Black community — we are currently in a femicide crisis that’s perpetuated by our silence about the harm taking place and men’s refusal to change or address their behavior. SHOW UP for the Black women in your life by taking preventative action! SPEAK UP when something happens to you or around you - the more we talk about what’s going on and address the root causes, the more we can heal and end these cycles of abvse! ❤️‍🩹also congrats to @aaliyahhkay on her collection + thanks for helping me preview some new @shopknotokay — give the women in your life flowers while we’re still here! 🌹🫶🏾 by @camryn_is
