Cookies from Heaven 🍪🤍

When my youngest son Walker turned 18 months old, he began to develop really high fevers every weekend. I would take him to the doctor, and they would tell me he had the flu. This continued for four weeks. Deep down, I knew something was wrong. I told the doctor I wasn’t leaving until they figured it out. I had five other children, and in my heart I knew there was more to this than the flu. The doctor wasn’t happy, but he referred me to another doctor who ordered a nuclear blood scan to see if he had cancer.

We took Walker to Utah Valley Hospital, and just before the test, the doctor called and told us to take him straight to Primary Children’s Hospital where the cardiologist was waiting. Within minutes of his echo, they told us Walker’s heart was having aneurysms in three main arteries — caused by Kawasaki’s disease, something very rare in American children.

He was admitted to the PICU. Six doctors and nurses never left his side as they tried an experimental medicine to stop the aneurysms before his heart completely failed. The next day, the doctor told us the only option left was a heart transplant. It would cost about $40K, and we had no idea how we’d ever afford it. I prayed constantly for peace but couldn’t bring myself to pray for a donor heart, because that meant another family would have to lose their child.

One night, while my husband stayed at the hospital, I prayed again for guidance. That night I dreamed I was in my kitchen baking cookies. People were knocking on my door to buy them. I could see the recipe on the counter. When I woke up, I wrote it down and started baking. The first few batches were awful, but night after night I dreamed of what to change until finally — they were good! I started selling them and saving every dollar for Walker’s transplant.

When Walker turned three, his heart grew two new arteries to replace the ones that were damaged — something children’s hearts simply don’t do. He never needed that transplant.

He’s now 22, married, and has a beautiful little boy who looks just like him.

So, as you can see, these cookies are not really mine — they came to me straight from heaven. 🤍✨ by @camscookies___
