Who am I? 👀
Well... I recently asked my AI for an overview.

I’m trying to streamline a workflow that connects me to certain content — across initiatives.

NGL.
It’s pretty good.

Good enough to use as a lazy intro to anyone who doesn’t know me, or for those who’ve been confused by my “stuff” lately.

A bit about me... according to my ChatGPT:
(oh and yes, I’m also a Canadian mom to a toddler 🙋‍♀️🍁)

More in the comments…
(ran out of room 😝)

Across Canada Now, Show Your Proof, and Proof Talks there’s a common thread: your audience tends to be made up of thoughtful people trying to make sense of change, make better decisions, and understand what matters beneath the surface.

I’d summarize you as a strategist, thought leader, and creator rather than focus on each individual project:

“My audiences vary by project. The common thread is that I tend to speak to thoughtful, curious people who want to better understand what is changing around them and make smarter decisions about what comes next. They value practical thinking, strategic perspective, real-world experience, and ideas that help them see beyond surface-level headlines or conventional wisdom. They’re often interested in how business, technology, leadership, innovation, policy, markets, and professional life are evolving — and what those changes mean in practical terms.

I like to help people connect dots, understand systems, recognize useful patterns, and think more clearly about the future without losing sight of present-day realities. My content can include thought leadership and forward-looking ideas, but I prefer it to stay grounded, useful, and connected to real people, decisions, experiences, and consequences. Depending on the project, the audience may be learning from an expert, considering a new way of thinking about an issue, looking for practical guidance, or trying to better understand how to navigate change in their own work or industry. I generally want people to leave my content feeling more informed, more thoughtful, and better equipped to form their own perspective — rather than simply being told what to think.” by @canadanowmedia

More housing means better choice and better prices.

Housing and development in cities are almost always hot topics.

Homes are expensive.

To buy.
To rent.
To build.

When the housing supply is low, and when housing types don’t fit the needs of communities, things get even tougher (even as real estate markets soften).

We need more homes in Canada.

And when we are able to talk about housing from a practical point of view (what do we need, how can we get there, and how can we make progress sooner than later), we can better understand the systems, bottlenecks, and opportunities.

Less politics.
More solutions.

If you’re interested in how to get more (and better) housing in your area — especially if you’re Canadian or live in BC — check out Canada Now for a deep dive conversation with special guest, Cynthia Jagger (expert on multifamily housing, development decisions, and commercial real estate in and around Vancouver).

Risk & uncertainty… 🤔🍁

It may seem like common sense — so maybe when it comes to solving the housing affordability crisis in BC and across Canada, we’re not currently asking (or debating) the right questions.

A few milestones. A big thank you. 🍁

My podcast distributor (@buzzsprout) alerted me today that Canada Now has officially passed 2,500 audio downloads. 🙌

That got me curious about video — so I checked out YouTube. Turns out it just crossed 4,000 episode views + 100,000 channel views. 🙌🙌

Modest numbers in the world of podcasts, but as I get Season 2 rolling, I’m energized to see this little Canadian show finding its audience.

If you’ve been watching, listening, or sharing a conversation with someone — thank you. It means a lot.

And if this is your first introduction to Canada Now — tune in!

🍁 Smart conversations.

It doesn’t really matter what your politics are — when municipal, provincial, and federal governments are pulling in different directions, it’s hard to get housing built.

Many of the challenges we face in British Columbia and across Canada come down to practical obstacles: inconsistent building codes, severe time delays, antiquated processes — and the occasional consequential regulatory surprise.

Regulation itself isn’t inherently a problem.

But when rules, requirements, and priorities are constantly shifting or working against one another, uncertainty becomes a major factor in whether we see the kind of progress that can actually move the needle for Canadians.

In the latest episode of Canada Now, Cynthia Jagger unpacks the nuance behind how — or if — housing gets built.

Over half a million more new homes are needed across BC — but how do we get there? 🤔

I explore this question with Cynthia Jagger on the latest episode of Canada Now.

Cynthia is Executive Vice President of Capital Markets with CBRE’s National Investment Team in Vancouver. She’s spent more than two decades in commercial real estate, particularly in multifamily housing, and serves on the Urban Development Institute’s board and as vice chair of its Rental Housing Issues Committee.

A few things from our conversation stand out. One is how much time and certainty matter.

Cynthia points out that some buildings being completed today began with decisions made seven to ten years ago. Think about how much can change in that time: financing, construction costs, rents, regulations, and the needs of the people those homes are meant to serve. What does it take to make a sound decision about the next building?

With Build Canada Homes underway and B.C. heading into municipal and provincial elections next month, there will be plenty more discussion about housing goals. I hope this episode helps make the questions we ask about delivering on them more specific.

Tune in for a grounded and informed perspective to a complicated and very important conversation we should all be having.

TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS: ⤵️
🍁 We know Canada needs more homes.
🍁 We know affordability matters.
🍁 So why is it so hard to get more housing built?

When should men start screening for prostate cancer?

If you have a history of the disease in your family — you should start early, says Mark Mahl, Executive Director of Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada. (@markmahl1 @prostatecanada)

Think 40-45 years old, versus the standard recommendation of 50, depending on your family history and circumstances.

Prostate Cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers in men across North America, and early screening saves lives. 💙

DID YOU KNOW… many men often don’t show or notice any symptoms of prostate cancer in the early stages?

That’s why proactive testing matters.

Season 2 of Canada Now launched in September — Prostate Cancer Awareness Month — so, to shine a light on men’s health, we want to talk about it. 🇨🇦💙🇨🇦

Special thank you to actor and advocate Eric McCormack for joining us on this special episode. (@eric_mccormack)

▶️ Watch or listen to the season premiere — wherever you get your podcasts — to hear Eric and Mark’s deeply personal connections to prostate cancer, and to learn how you can spread awareness and help the men you care about take action for longer lives and better health. 🫶
