Mahershala Ali finally gets the 'Blade' action sequences he has been preparing for years, or at least, that’s what it feels like! But despite the action, Bassam Tariq’s 'Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother' is ultimately a much more introspective and deeply personal film.

Latif (Ali) is a religious hitman whose faith is suddenly put to the test when, during an assignment, he receives a devastating call informing him that his wife has died. He is now forced to reconcile his dangerous life with the responsibility of raising their three children on his own.

Things become even more complicated when Latif is given one final dangerous assignment: eliminate a religious leader named Kwan (John Cho). As he carries out the job, he must also find a way to be both a father and a mother to his children while dealing with his own grief and questioning his faith.

'Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother' is a poetic and deeply moving film about faith, grief, and the importance of caring for a family in the absence of a mother. Mahershala Ali delivers an Oscar-worthy performance, showing once again why he is such a powerful actor. John Cho also gives a stellar performance, adding even more emotional depth to this touching story.

Your accent is your identity, but in show business, it can open doors or shut them in your face completely.

Based on an improbably true story, CALIFORNIA SCHEMIN’ follows the duo as fame beckons and the lies pile up, putting their friendship, and their elaborate scam, to the ultimate test.

There's a new creature joining the ranks of classic snake cinema, and just like Anaconda, its roots are tied to South America. But while Anaconda focused on a real, oversized predator, Beware Boiúna taps into something legendary: the Boiúna, or Cobra Grande (Great Serpent), an iconic staple of South American folklore. In myth, this giant snake is practically the river personified, said to carve out new channels and alter the Amazon's paths as it slithers through dark riverbeds. In the film, she's framed as the ultimate force of nature who decides who lives and who dies.

It’s always great to see indigenous tales and regional myths make it to the big screen, especially with production shooting on location along the rivers of Colombia. Even though this is a North American production that doesn't dive too deeply into the history or mythology behind the Boiúna, bringing that piece of folklore into a modern creature feature is a fun concept.

The plot follows a team of doctors providing medical care to remote river communities. When things spiral out of control and they're forced to flee, they wander right into territory where the Boiúna has been summoned by illegal forest exploitation. From there, it becomes a pure survival game. The story mostly serves as a vehicle to keep the momentum going, anchored by a solid lead performance from Canadian actress Kiana Madeira.

Beware Boiúna doesn’t reinvent the creature feature formula, but it works because it knows how to play to its strengths. It’s an entertaining, thrill-packed ride that understands what to show and, just as importantly, what to keep hidden in the shadows. By leaning on clever pacing and making smart use of its practical effects and budget, it delivers a really fun time if you just go along for the ride.
