Post-Production Audio workflow for “Third Eye” by @joaquin.foster_
In this breakdown of the audio mix we’re exploring turning mono tracks to stereo, sound isolation, adding warmth to film audio through Equalization (Pultec EQ by @uaudio), and subtle compression to smooth out peaks while maintaining large dynamic range. Phenomenal performances by the actors and amazing vision and direction by Joaquin Foster. Send me a message if you are looking for post production audio help, or if you are trying to get better at your own skills in Logic, or Protools.

Breaking down the opening cue from the film “Behind Closed Doors.”

🧠Before I even start writing I ask the director
“What Emotion(s) are we wanting the audience to feel through the music” Also very important is how big or small do we want the cue to feel.

✍️Starting with a rough piano sketch I lay out a general idea of the cue (Chords and harmony, Melody, pacing) Then it’s time to assign instruments to each part and orchestrate

🎼In this cue I used Guitar, Piano, Strings. Keep it simple to start - you’ll know if you have to add more. Especially with revisions from the Director.

🎬 How I Score Short Films

Every score starts with emotion.
Before I touch a piano or load a sound, I study the story, pacing, cinematography, and emotional direction of the scene. The goal isn’t just to make music… it’s to make the audience *feel* something.

My process for scoring short films include:
🎼 Theme creation
🎹 Chord and melody choices
🎧 Sound design & layering
🎬 Matching music to visuals
📈 Building tension and release
🎻 Creating cinematic atmosphere

If you want to see the full in-depth breakdowns, behind-the-scenes sessions, and detailed production process, make sure to like and follow. More cinematic scoring content coming soon.

This is how I would score an animated Superhero TV series…..in your face drums, low synth drones, intense choir, orchestral hits, and synth arpeggios. Fitting for a high-speed chase or action sequence. #music #composer #mediacomposer #filmcomposer #soundtrack #soundtracks #superhero #animation #tv #film #dc #marvel by @cap_sharon
