[READ FULL IN ENGLISH BELLOW] Este programa piloto es un método educativo para padres, educadores y cuidadores de niños con edades de 0-5 años que busca el desarrollo integral, cognitivo, lenguaje socio emocional y físico con el fin de promover exitosamente transición al kindergarten. Our main goal is to give you practical tools to help children succeed in school. Fue un encuentro increíble donde nuestros estudiantes de ESL y Alfabetización Digital compartieron sus experiencias, recibieron sus certificados y mostraron el orgullo de sus raíces compartiendo platillos tradicionales de sus culturas. El Viernes le dimos una calurosa bienvenida oficial a María Romina Gutiérrez como nuestra nueva Directora Ejecutiva. Nos encantó conectar con amigos y aliados para dar inicio a este nuevo capítulo, enfocados en seguir impulsando el crecimiento profesional y el bienestar de la comunidad inmigrante en Greater Richmond. ¡Gracias a todos! 🎉 We are excited to introduce Romina Gutierrez as the new Executive Director of Capaz+IT! Romina’s story with Capaz+IT began not in the executive office, but as a member of the community. She first joined Capaz+IT as a volunteer—supporting outreach, teaching digital literacy and workforce skills, and mentoring adult learners pursuing educational and career goals. That experience gave her a firsthand understanding of the people we serve and the barriers—and opportunities—they encounter as they build new lives and careers. Romina also brings a distinctly international perspective. Her professional career spans Bolivia and the Greater Richmond Area. Before joining Capaz+IT’s staff, she spent years in banking and small-business finance in Bolivia, working in financial analysis, organizational strategy, risk management, business development, and entrepreneurship. She holds a degree in Financial Engineering and brings more than 15 years of experience across finance, education, program development, and community engagement. At Capaz+IT, Romina grew from volunteer to Program Coordinator and then Director of Programs, helping strengthen our systems, expand community outreach, improve how we use data, and build the infrastructure needed for our programs to grow responsibly. Now, as Executive Director, she brings together deep community connection with strong operational and financial leadership. Her vision is focused on sustainable growth: strengthening organizational systems, expanding workforce-focused education, building employer partnerships, diversifying funding, and fostering a culture of responsibility, transparency, teamwork, and servant leadership. Most importantly, Romina understands our mission personally. Her journey reflects what Capaz+IT is about: recognizing the experience, talent, and potential people bring with them and creating opportunities for that potential to grow. Las familias pudieron aprender cómo respaldar el aprendizaje de sus hijos durante el verano, conocer el programa Ocean Adventures (Aventuras Oceánicas) de ExCELL y enterarse de la variedad de talleres que planeamos realizar en conjunto durante la temporada. ¡Esperamos con entusiasmo un verano lleno de programas dinámicos y atractivos! Capaz+IT was well represented in the 2026 class of Community Foundation for a greater Richmond's Emerging Non-Profit Leader (ENLP) program!! Both Board Secretary, Alexa Santisteban and Co-Founder, Spencer L. Turner from our Board of Directors were recognized as graduates and board president, Ingrid Nelson, AAP, was on hand to cheer them on. This program has been encouraging the careers of non-profit leaders for over 15 years and the value of the self-reflection, growth and cross-organizational relationships it engenders is undeniable. Spencer and Lex were particularly excited to speak with community leader and friend, Multicultural Community Engagement Coordinator with the Chesterfield County Office of Diversity and Inclusion! You know its classy when folks like that are in attendance:) ****** ¡Capaz+IT estuvo muy bien representada en la clase de 2026 del programa Emerging Non-Profit Leader (ENLP) de la Community Foundation for a Greater Richmond!
