More Than Running 🏅

I didn’t know when I signed up for my first race earlier this year, it was gonna be the gateway to my running journey to make it to this point. these past 3 months of dedication & training for my half marathon debut was a journey I’ll never ever forget. only for me to realize that the person I was building myself through out the journey was someone I didn’t know I could be. my brother @_aureliorod convinced me before we signed up for this race that I’m capable of hitting a Sub 2 for this half so I made that my goal to achieve and worked my ass off for it. I’ve never worked that hard for something in my life to be honest lol all the summer training in the humidity & hot mornings/days, outside in the pouring rain, outside in the hazardous air quality cause I still needed to get that work in (might’ve been a bad idea btw), sacrificing sleep or long nights at work from these overnight shifts and still getting out there on the pavement. it doesn’t seem too bad until you’re done with a heavy day at work, followed by a heavy run workout then have to snap right back into dad mode before going to bed but that’s the beauty of the grind.

I began to enjoy simply showing up for myself even when I realllyyyyy didn’t want to some days. thinking back 2 years ago when I felt like I was at one of my lowest points physically & mentally, having a drink damn near every night, not doing any body movement whatsoever, never really wanting to go outside, always disliking how I looked in pictures, diet all sorts of messed up leading up to this very moment. at one point I felt like shit started hitting the fan and my goal was gonna be out reach but A SUB 2 IN MY VERY FIRST HALF, CMONNNNNN! 😤 this journey converted into a homage to that old me to show me that we can do shit like this even from being down that bad. I feel like it changed me for a better person overall & a better father. I see a light and enjoyment in so much again. I’m so thankful to be able to move my body and for having a healthy & successful training block. SUB FUCKING 2 BABY🔥

2026 8K Shamrock Shuffle. a time was had to say the least 🍀

my first ever race I signed up for and man it was a dope experience. been training more on my cardio this time around being locked back in the gym since last September little by little and what better way to test my improvements than to sign up for an 8K with the homies 😎 10:45/mile split is average to most but for me that’s a major improvement & new PR. couldn’t be more proud of myself for taking on this challenge 😤

huge shout out to my whole family for showing up & supporting me on my first of many races despite how windy and cold it was out there. from the beginning of the race to the 3rd mile mark & the finish line, they were turnt up for me 🫶🏼

last shout out to my brother @_aureliorod for helping me and coaching me on the journey to get me to this point in this new running era I’ve entered. talking me through our early morning runs, giving me the tips I needed to improve my endurance, breathing or recoveries when I asked, I appreciate you twin 💪🏼 already locked in for the next run soon, the road to half a marathon just began 😈 taken in Grant Park by @capitalceez_

Pisces season ended some days ago but here’s a quick look at how I spent it this year ♓️

I said I wasn’t gonna type up a whole essay but Im due for one so here it goes lol. this year, I wanted nothing more than to be around my little family for my birthday and I received just that 💕 so thank you God for allowing me to hit the big 30. saying my 20’s was a major learning experience is an understatement, for the good and the worst but I’ve never felt more self centered with where I’m going in life than I am now 🙏🏼 this time around, I’m focusing on loving myself again and putting myself first in a lot through out life. thank you to my amazing friends & family who I’ve held close in my journey so far and have been watching my growth ❤️

I also can’t forget to mention, as a part of my 30th birthday celebration wifey booked me a flight to LA for one of my birthday gifts and tickets to the Bulls @ Lakers game. so thank you baby for giving me that experience, sent me on my first solo trip and it was a major success 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 I love you!
