Aloha, friends!🌴 I'm Emily. Founder of Cap'n Coconut, creative consultant, and forever skincare lover. Cap'n Coconut was born in my tiny Portland kitchen after a melanoma diagnosis changed everything. What started as a simple coconut body balm became a way to care for my skin, my confidence, and my sense of self. I learned how to rebuild after illness, let go of toxic ingredients (and tanning beds), and create skincare that feels as good as it works. More than a decade later, that one balm has grown into a collection of beachy bodycare for sun-loved, sensitive, and mature skin. As a master esthetician, I've had the privilege of helping thousands of women feel more confident in their skin through simple routines, thoughtful education, and products made with intention. Along the way, I discovered I love building more than skincare. I love building ideas, brands, systems, and businesses that help people do their best work. Today, alongside Cap'n Coconut, I work as a creative consultant, partnering with founders and small businesses on everything from brand strategy and creative direction to operations, organization, and bringing big ideas to life. Whether I'm formulating a new body spray, redesigning a website, mapping out a business, or helping someone simplify their skincare routine, I'm usually chasing the same goal: creating things that make everyday life feel a little lighter, a little more beautiful, and a lot more joyful. These days I'm lucky enough to call Hawai'i home, where every Cap'n Coconut product is thoughtfully made in small batches and inspired by the slower, sunnier way of life that first inspired this brand.
