Indulge me a bit and my middle age senility as I take us back to summer.

I had the privilege of roadtripping with Havi as she participated in three different Summer Intensive programs for her ballet training.

Mid June we headed to Oklahoma City.

On our way we stopped in Birmingham, AL and caught up with friends before continuing west.

We managed to also stop in Tupelo, MS for a brief visit to Elvis Presley’s childhood home.

Then we spent the night in Little Rock, AK.

Next day we visited the Fort Smith National Historic Site before finally arriving in Oklahoma City so she could train with the OKC Yvonne Chouteau Ballet School. Patrick and Madeline were also able to visit us while we were there, which made that time extra special.

After two weeks there, we headed to Houston so she could train at Houston Ballet Academy….for five long weeks.

Finally at the end of all that, we headed to Largo, FL where she attended the Duncan Cooper Summer Workshop, stopping in Tallahassee, FL for our obligatory Capitol photo. (Did that in Little Rock, too.)

Well, eight weeks of dancing, over 6,000 miles on my car and all I got out of it was a cracked windshield and a flat tire. 🤣

Seriously though, we made some incredible memories , and the summer of 2026 is one I will never forget. by @capturingourdays

Since Patrick was in town and the Astros were playing at home, he wanted to take Havi to her first Major League Baseball game. It was an easy 15 minute walk to the stadium from our building. City living perks! 🌆

Houstonians and Astros fans are just fun, friendly people. And I got such a kick out of the fact they sing “Deep in the Heart of Texas” during the 7th inning stretch. What a treat!

And that squishy baseball Havi is holding? That was given to her by the man sitting next to me who caught it from one of the Astros cheerleaders. I told you they were friendly!

After church on Sunday, we had lunch at Kenny and Ziggy’s Deli. And we also found a charming little nature trail not far from downtown. So we all enjoyed a nice walk. And then we headed to Tiny’s Milk and Cookies so Havi could cool off with come ice cream.

It was so great having Patrick with us as he also helped us pick out a TV, brought it home and helped us set it up. He also helped us pick out some snazzy boots! He’s a good man! I also had the chance to bring Havi to a cute little coffee shop right by our building. It’s decorated with 50s school chairs and has a great Midcentury vibe.

So grateful for this time to slow down and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. Patrick found a little nugget of nature just a stone’s throw from downtown. We felt like we were in Narnia. ❤️

August was a busy month. We moved Madeline into her dorm at Bryan College in Dayton, TN. What a special time helping her settle into her room. We managed to have dinner with Caleb the night we rolled in because he headed back to college the day before, and he’s just about an hour from Madeline.

Then Havi and I hit the road to begin our trip to Houston. We made it to Hattiesburg, MS which was about half way to Houston. Next day we left early so we had time to check into our building and have our orientation before unloading my fully packed car.

We’ve spent the past two weeks getting settled into our apartment, and Havi has begun training at Houston Ballet Academy. We are so excited to be here and can’t wait for what the future holds for us. by @capturingourdays

Happy 3rd Birthday sweet Havi!! So glad you got to play with your cousins today while your brother played in a tennis tournament. Despite the bad weather all weekend, we still managed to have some birthday fun! We love you so much!!! by @capturingourdays
