34 years and she finally made it back home. Drove her back to the @caratduchatelet headquarters in Liège, Belgium, couldn’t think of a more fitting moment. Got to meet the current CEO and Owner and have him sign the car. Bucket list moment, check.

🇺🇸 File 011 // A Belgian coachbuilder rebuilt this 190E in 1992. Thirty-four years later @carat.190e drove it back to their front door and had the owner of the company sign it.

Carat Duchatelet worked alongside Mercedes-Benz on the W201: their own bodywork, their own interiors, armoured cars for the customers who asked. People mention them next to AMG and Brabus.

This one is a survivor. Standard M102 2.0 under the bonnet, Cosworth seats in houndstooth, the Carat badge on the boot lid, and a UK plate it still wears in Colorado. Getting it there cost him over $5,000 in shipping, and that was before the import duties landed.
