🇺🇸 FILE 011 // Carat Duchatelet 190E

A 1992 190E 2.0 built by @caratduchatelet, the Belgian coachbuilder that worked with Mercedes-Benz on the W201. Euro spec, still on its M102 2.0, 76,411 miles, Cosworth seats fitted in 2025.

In April 2026 it went back to Belgium, 34 years after it left. Driven to Carat Duchatelet’s headquarters in Liège, where the current CEO and owner signed it in gold. Then shipped from the UK to the United States, over $5,000 before the import duties, and now filed in Denver.

Every car on the registry gets a number, a permanent file and its whole build log. 500 founding numbers, 114 filed.

🇺🇸 File 011 // A Belgian coachbuilder rebuilt this 190E in 1992. Thirty-four years later @carat.190e drove it back to their front door and had the owner of the company sign it.

Carat Duchatelet worked alongside Mercedes-Benz on the W201: their own bodywork, their own interiors, armoured cars for the customers who asked. People mention them next to AMG and Brabus.

This one is a survivor. Standard M102 2.0 under the bonnet, Cosworth seats in houndstooth, the Carat badge on the boot lid, and a UK plate it still wears in Colorado. Getting it there cost him over $5,000 in shipping, and that was before the import duties landed.
