Day 1: Not a Self Portrait

I’m giving myself a little October challenge: draw something every day and stop overthinking the blank page.

My 5 and 7 year olds can just pick up a pen and create without the 14-step internal approval process I’m used to, so I’m borrowing some of that energy.

Wish me luck 🤞🏽

Fun fact: My kids are convinced I’ve drawn myself. A very Leo thing to do, but I promise I am not my own muse. Her face just came to me the easiest. Next portrait, I’m making her look totally different to me.

The process.

I need to practice the art of layering, patience and trusting the process.

I was ready to dash that iPad 5mins in, BUT! I layered up, followed through and let her come to me. by @carm.studio

Esme’s 5th birthday, Fashion Week style.

I loved creating this one. The brief was basically pink, fashion, crafts and lots of little details, and from there the whole idea just grew.

From the welcome sign and VIP passes to the denim jackets, accessories and styling stations, I wanted the whole thing to feel fun, personal and properly thought through.

If you’ve got a birthday, party or small event coming up and want something a little more considered, feel free to DM me.

In a world of AI, do some window art.

I’ve always loved my passage window. It’s become my little space to showcase seasonal creativity, and this time I decided to challenge myself and draw directly onto it.

Considering I haven’t picked up a pen in years, and I’d never used chalk pens on glass before, what could possibly go wrong?

It definitely humbled me. Several times, I wanted to rub it all off, which would’ve been easy because the slightest touch smudged it, but I persisted.

Honestly, it was exactly what I needed to balance out the corporate fatigue and get me drawing again.

And now I’m sharing it, which feels HUGE. There’s something incredibly exposing about putting your artwork on a window for everyone to see. It’s not perfect, but it’s a start, and the kids think I’m the coolest mum. 🥹

Any window artists have tips on the best materials to use? Acrylic paint, window paint, or something else? I’m all ears!

I spy with my creative eyes, Frida.

For this shot, I wanted the chest of drawers to be the hero, using warm wood, natural texture and soft light to create a calm, considered composition.

Created during my styling course with @unioftheartslondon and a reminder to look at familiar spaces with fresh eyes.

Fun fact: last week I completed a styling course with @unioftheartslondon and @emmamtstylist, and this was one of my favourite shots from the week.

I usually gravitate towards colour, shape and pattern, so I’ve often felt that I hadn’t given my own bedroom the same creative attention as the other spaces in my home.

But styling and photographing this little corner helped me see it differently. My bedroom isn’t lacking personality. It’s simply my place of calm, softness and peace.

Although knowing me, I’m sure a little more colour will find its way in eventually 😏

Hello, I’m Stacey.

Here I go, putting myself out there, biting the bullet and doing all the other cliché things people say when they are about to do something a little scary.

I’m a Leo, a mum of three and a creative marketing manager who has spent years working in the corporate world. Now, I’m slowly making more room for the work that feels most like me: styling, storytelling and bringing ideas to life through colour, texture and thoughtful details.

I create personality led styling across interiors, events and editorial style content. I’m drawn to the small details that make a space, setup or image feel considered, but never overdone.

This page is where I’ll be sharing my growing portfolio: styled corners, children’s spaces, intimate celebrations, tablescapes, creative experiments and the work that happens behind the finished photograph.

I’m based in Kent and available for styling assists, collaborations and selected creative projects across London and the South East.

And yes, I probably will notice when something is two centimetres out of place.

Welcome to @carm.studio I’m very glad you’re here.

Feeling blue isn’t always a bad thing.

I went to a pottery-painting class a few years ago, and although I never quite got around to painting this beautiful lady, she still earned prime position, and plant position, on my bookshelf. Alongside a few actual books, of course, and this gorgeous glass jug from @flyingtiger

Details and Dinosaurs. 🦖

This desk gives me such a nostalgic feeling. The mix of shelf heights and compartments creates the perfect little spaces for books, storage and all the accessories that make the area feel completely Ethan’s.

I can’t wait to see the stories, drawings and ideas he creates while sitting here.
