She wasn’t my bride.

She was the Mother of the Groom.

We spent the morning chatting while I did her hair. We talked about life, getting older, and even menopause. It was one of those conversations that just flowed.

Her brief was all pulled back away from her face but….. I don’t think you can do much with it .

I beg to differ, I created a beautiful sleek half up half down that complimented her beautiful face .

When I’d finished, I handed her the mirror.

She looked at herself, burst into tears and said she never thought she could look so beautiful.🥹

A little while later, after she’d gone to get dressed, she came back looking for me.

She took hold of my hand and simply said,

“Thank you… I feel so beautiful and so seen.” 🥹

Hair is never just hair.

Sometimes it’s confidence & connection.
It’s permission to see and acknowledge your own beauty , it’s helping someone see themselves through kinder eyes. 🤍

It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do.

Because everyone deserves to feel seen. 🤍

🤍 I don’t really do things for recognition.
This was something I chose to do for myself. To push my skills, refine my techniques, and make sure I am constantly improving what I already do.

Because the truth is…

🤍 When you book your makeup artist, you are not just booking how they work today.
You are booking how committed they are to getting better. To not getting complacent. To not doing the same thing over and over.

And that matters more than any trend or title.

🤍 I am really pleased this has also placed me on the @kristinagasperasacademy recommended supplier list.

But more than anything, it reflects how seriously I take what I do.

She’s there for all the emotions, the nerves, the laughter and even the happy tears.

Genuinely liking the person who’s doing your makeup is as important as loving their work.

Because now we know something we didn’t know before.

We know what you don’t like. Even if you were absolutely sure it was what you wanted.

It’s a bit like flipping a coin.

Heads, red lip.
Tails, nude.

The moment that coin is in the air, you know exactly which side you’re hoping it’ll land on.

That’s what a preview can do.

You really get to look at yourself, you can take time solely on you, how do you want to look and feel. Not how you thought you wanted or expected to look, especially when scrolling through Pinterest.

I love a preview with loads of feedback.

Tell me what you love and what has to go. I want to hear Tell me what you thought you’d love but actually don’t.

We’re not just figuring out your makeup.

We’re understanding your WHOLE wedding day. The look, the vibe, the feeling.

Sometimes finding out what you don’t want is the most useful thing we can do.

When your bride brings you a photo of your own work as inspiration… 🥹

She loved a look I’d created on another bride, particularly that statement lip.

So we took what she loved and adapted it to suit her own features, colouring and style.

Inspiration is always a starting point, not a set of instructions.

That red lip ? Absolutely gorgeous on her.

And I adore her corpse bride P.Js 😍
