It was truly an honor to refinish this incredible hardwood inlay table.

This table was built about 55-60 years ago with minimal tools and woodworking experience. The craftsman was my clients great grandfather who was a plumber by trade. This table was the first of many that he made with the last one being a fifteen sided masterpiece.

What an inspiration.

➡️ ZARVAN update: The team worked carefully to take the two halves of ZARVAN apart… this was stressful! After cutting all the tack welds inside, we used a forklift to gently separate the front of the neck from the back. It’s nerve wracking to see such a large piece of metal moving - and to wonder if all the hard work may be damaged! Luckily, the process was successful with no damage to ZARVAN. The next step is to install the pick points made from metal tubing so that these halves can move out if the shop and work on the head can begin. It’s going to be so exciting to see ZARVAN’s face come to life! Please like and share to bring ZARVAN to the world!

Building the art is one challenge. Months of hard labor. Solving problems. Coordinating a team. Building the art on Playa is a whole new challenge … transpiration, heavy machinery, and dealing with the weather. We got so lucky to set up ZARVAN on this incredible sunny day with no wind … and having an incredibly skilled team didn’t hurt waiter. Huge, huge thanks to all of our champions who were with us from the start and or Burning Man Art Support Team. We could not have made this magic without you!

A gigantic 14' tall JVC/Victor M70 boombox and a 20' tall Radio City Music Hall marquee tower replica! These set pieces were built for the New York Play @freestylelovestory

This project was a lot of fun to build and also presented some unique and frustrating challenges. The entire build was completed in Reno then broken-down and carefully packed on a pallet and loaded into a truck to be shipped New York.

Two cabinets, one for some very special cats. The other, a place to grab what you need when you head out the door.
Sometimes an efficient design highlights simple but important details. I love how these cabinets have no pulls on the doors or drawers. Just a simple notch in one partition gives ample room to open top or bottom.

The last photo shows the unique jigs that were made for these cabinets.

I have always taken pride in being the person that is willing to figure things out and think outside of the box. These clients desperately tried to find someone to build this bread oven and no one would commit. It was an amazing learning opportunity and it ended up being one of the most beautiful projects I have taken on.
