I can’t wait to dig in with you! by @carynberley

A guided 7-minute inner practice. This is what my teachers Russ Hudson and Jessica Dibb have invited us to do every day to develop presence in our 3 centers of intelligence. by @carynberley

Hi, I’m Caryn. I live in what is currently known as Portland, Oregon and my pronouns are she/her/hers. I’m a white, able-bodied, highly-educated, neurodivergent, heterosexual, cis woman with a lot of privilege and I’m in the “wellness” space. I used to feel really embarrassed about this. Slowly, over time, I have come to remember that I am worthy of showing up exactly as I am - and so are you.

In 2017 I was on track to becoming a licensed clinical social worker when it became apparent that I was woefully out of touch with my own intuition. My body took the reins and I experienced burnout and the familiar depression that would crop up whenever I faced major decisions about what I truly desired for myself and my life.

It was around then that the Enneagram found me. It made me feel seen on a different level than I had previously experienced. It gave me language for the internal pangs of fear, shame, anger, doubt, and overwhelm I often struggled with. And it integrated psychology in a way that was both profound and practical.

I dug in. I let myself fall apart (with a lot of help from others).

It took me another few years to leave the formal systems of social work and embrace service through the lens of coaching.

I believe everyone is inherently creative, resourceful, and whole. It took me a long time to start believing that about myself.

I am still digging in. I am still letting myself fall apart. And I am offering others the invitation to do the same.

Social media is complicated and it remains to be seen how much this platform will fit into my long-term plans. The best way to stay connected with me is by subscribing to Mindful Musings, where I share personal stories, offer practices for deepening self-awareness, and write about concepts from the Enneagram. It’s the best way to stay informed of my new offerings.

For Enneagram teachings, head over to my podcast @enneagramtypecast and check out my offers at the link in my bio!

I’d love to know more about you. Feel free to comment, DM me, or subscribe and reply via email. ✨

I almost didn’t try this one. I’m not great at circles, I really didn’t feel confident I could make the petal shape very well, and I was sure my white marker was too thick. I even considered going out and buying a different one before starting 😅

My inner work right now has a lot to do with the constant stream of judgments that would have me diminish myself and never take action.

I’m happy with the result of this lil art doodle but I’m even happier I allowed myself to do it at all.

Happy birthday to this woman who has become one of my dearest friends over the last year and a half! It’s hard to believe we’ve only known each other that long, but since met through The Somatic Enneagram trainings, we’ve witnessed each other touch deep places within ourselves - including in a Denny’s on a road trip back from our second training together 😅

Even though she lives in Argentina, we talk multiple times a week and she sees (and lovingly calls me out on) things that are shifting how I see my work in the world.

Nicole’s understanding of the Enneagram is so in line with mine and so filled with reverence for the beauty and intelligence of the workings of the human psyche that I now send all my longterm clients to her to orient to the system.

She has SUCH a strong intuition (as well as deep study, experience teaching in prisons, and her own personal journey with the Enneagram & somatics) and everyone I’ve sent has been blown away by their explorations with her.

The ones I sent to her for free literally refused to not pay her bc it was that valuable.

And because I stubbornly demanded that she stop hiding her gifts and made her set up some simple systems… she’s now able to reach more people!

If you don’t know your Enneagram type or you’re unsure of your instinctual stack (her current hyper fixation), or you could use undivided attention on how YOUR patterns are affecting your life and the practical places where your deepest work is waiting for you… GO talk to Nicole right nowww — in English or in Spanish!

(Well you’ll have to wait til she’s done celebrating with her family but you can get on her calendar immediately!)

In fact, I’d love to send you a code to save a lil $ when you schedule a 90 minute call with her through the end of October. If you’re ready to see yourself more clearly, just comment or message me “Nicole” (or ask in your own words lol)

and let’s give her the birthday gift of doing what she loves to do — and give YOU the gift of receiving it. by @carynberley

I’ve been playing with repetitive patterns and not disparaging myself when they don’t come out like the reference video.

Feeling creative and generative is huge for my mental health and spiritual wellbeing.

What are you creating these days? by @carynberley

One of the best parts of working for myself is that I don’t make myself wake up early.

I’ve never been an early morning person, and that’s finally okay with me.

Because I’m learning (and re-learning) the lesson that MY LIFE GETS TO WORK FOR ME.

As a sensitive being who grew up working hard to prove I wasn’t too sensitive (read: numbed myself to be able to deal with patriarchal bullsh*t)…

I always made myself wrong.

Even after learning what it means to be wired as an Enneagram 9…
+ a Projector in Human Design…
+ a Pisces…
+ neurodivergent…

I still have my inner critic telling me I should really just get over myself and try harder.

And listen, there’s a kernel of truth in every utterance from the Inner Critic. That’s how it becomes so convincing.

There is more I want and need to do for my business.

But waking up early isn’t it!!

And I know that.

And my life gets to work for me.

So I don’t schedule clients early.

I get to go out and dance on a Tuesday night while my husband DJs and then sleep in because my day doesn’t start til 10:30.

There are ways I’m still working on being a better boss to myself. But today I’m honoring this piece of the puzzle.

Because part of my job is solidifying my belief that your life gets to work for you, and that starts by believing it for myself.

So tell me: what’s a way you make your life truly work for YOU?

Or, if it doesn’t feel possible yet, what could that look like?

I help self-aware seekers live lives that honor their wholeness in ways that ripple out to benefit humanity. If you want help breaking down the steps to get your life to work for your nervous system, send me a DM and let’s chat. by @carynberley

I am thrilled Dina ElBadry will be our first expert teacher with the IEA PNW 🎉

Dina is an accomplished Enneagram scholar, teacher and coach, and her session at the 2025 IEA Experience in Minneapolis blew my mind in the best possible way 🤯

Registration is free for members - and membership will essentially pay for this event (especially if you’re an IEA Global member!) ✨

So, what is the IEA PNW? We’re a regional affiliate of the International Enneagram Association, providing connection, community, and education for Enneagram professionals, enthusiasts, and newcomers. We are planning several online events for 2027, plus in-person gatherings in Seattle, Portland, and the Bay Area (and perhaps more to come - looking at you, Ashland!! ☺️)

Our board is delighted to be building a community of fellow seekers in our corner of the world. Message me with any questions 💜💜💜 by @carynberley

We’re gathering in person in Portland this Sunday!! Come hang with Enneagram enthusiasts and the Enneagram-curious. We’re going to eat fruit and nuts and cheese and get to know each other, with facilitation by @lentzlbean and appearances by a good chunk of the IEA PNW Board.

We’ve got more than 20 people signed up, and there’s room for more!

Tag a friend who should know about this!

See you there!? by @carynberley

So much striving. So much trying to figure it out. So much self-forgetting. What if letting yourself be held, breathing deeply, and just being here is enough for right now? by @carynberley

ep. 201. Essence, overthinking, somatics, and the power of the enneagram with the brilliant Caryn Berley is LIVE!!!!

@carynberley is a trusted Enneagram teacher, somatic coach, and recovering over-thinker who helps longtime seekers close the gap between "I know things about myself" and "I'm unmistakably, unapologetically me."

Trained as a social worker and now a multi-certified Enneagram teacher, Somatic Enneagram™ Facilitator, and trauma-informed coach,

Caryn works at the intersection of the Enneagram and somatic awareness —

the exact place where patterns like over-explaining, shrinking, and mentally spiraling finally loosen their grip.

Caryn hosts Enneagram Invitations: Saying Yes to Transformation and co-hosts The Enneagram Typecast and The Somatic Enneagram Podcast, with her episodes reaching over 400,000 downloads.

But she'll be the first to say the numbers aren't the point —

she doesn't believe anyone can really thrive in this chaotic world without doing their own inner work, herself included.

She's continually in awe of what becomes possible when we practice presence with an ever-shifting reality and learn to trust the body's wisdom.

in this ep, we chat about how the enneagram doesn't just tell you your "type," it hands you a map back to your ESSENCE

we talk about what it's like to be a type 9 (her type) who's spent a lifetime merging with everyone else's energy and how she's learned to work with herself

we get into how she works with clients somatically depending on their enneagram type (this is SUCH a cool and unique facet of Caryn's work)

we also get into the drama triangle, why typing yourself can take years (and why that's not you doing it wrong), and what it means to be witnessed instead of rescued.
