Nature rarely draws a straight line.

Throughout CASCADA Bend, architecture takes its cues from the organic forms found in the natural world. Walls curve. Openings soften. Daylight enters from unexpected places. Gardens and plant life become part of the architecture rather than decoration added afterward.

Designed in collaboration with HACKER, these spaces are an expression of the biophilic philosophy at the heart of CASCADA and SolTerra: that the built environment can bring us closer to nature, not separate us from it.

From the moment you arrive, the intention is to create spaces that feel less constructed and more discovered.

Perched on the rooftop and designed around the extraordinary landscape of Central Oregon, The Conservatory brings water, abundant plant life, natural light, fresh air, and expansive mountain views together in one immersive wellness environment.

Indoor and outdoor pools flow across the rooftop, while a glass-enclosed conservatory creates a year-round connection to the sky and surrounding landscape. Above, an integrated solar canopy filters sunlight into the space while helping generate energy for the building.

It’s biophilic design at the heart of CASCADA: not simply looking at nature, but creating places where you can feel immersed in it.

Morning sun. Snow falling outside. Warm water and mountains on the horizon. A rooftop oasis designed for every season.

Inspired by the volcanic landscapes of Central Oregon, The Sanctuary is an expression of our belief that the most meaningful architecture doesn’t compete with nature, it deepens our connection to it.

Designed in collaboration with HACKER, this space draws from the quiet strength of the region’s columnar basalt formations, where ancient lava cooled over millions of years into rhythmic stone columns that continue to shape Oregon’s landscape today.

Through the principles of biophilic design, water, light, stone, and scale come together to create more than a wellness experience. They create a feeling, one of awe, grounding, and presence.

We believe the spaces we inhabit have the power to shape how we feel. The Sanctuary was designed to remind us of something we too often forget: that nature is not something we visit. It’s something we’re meant to feel connected to every day.

The best part of this experience was the part I couldn’t film. 🤍

I had such a beautiful day at Cascada — movement, mineral water, a smoothie, time to read, and actual space to slow down.

But the Sanctuary downstairs was something else.
No phones. Silence encouraged. Mineral water, hot tub, cold plunge, and the salt air lounge that ended up being my favorite part of the entire experience.
And honestly, not being able to capture it made me appreciate it even more.

Sometimes wellness isn’t about doing more. Sometimes it’s giving yourself permission to completely unplug.
Cascada, you were lovely. And Bend… you have something very special coming. ✨ @cascada.bend

This past week marked the groundbreaking of Cascada Bend, another milestone in a journey rooted in bold vision and unwavering dedication. Congratulations to Brian and Marc on breaking ground to something extraordinary.

Watching you bring Cascada Portland to life was inspiring enough, and seeing that vision grow into a place serving another community is truly special.

Brian, you’ve never set out to simply build sustainable buildings, but to create places where people can slow down, reconnect with nature, restore well-being, and feel a sense of belonging—spaces that bring people together and strengthen communities.

Construction has officially begun on @cascada.bend, and we are excited to celebrate this milestone with @solterraliving, @hackerarchitects and the entire project team.

Tuesday, we ceremonially marked the beginning of construction on this remarkable wellness destination. As Lewis continues to grow our presence in Central Oregon, we're especially honored to be breaking ground on yet another project in downtown Bend and to strengthen our commitment to serving this vibrant and growing community.

The 130,000-square-foot project will feature a 68-room boutique hotel, a thermal spa, rooftop pools and saunas with sweeping views of the cascades, creating a one-of-a-kind experience tailored to the high desert and outdoor recreation recovery.

With site work already underway, we are excited to bring this project to life and look forward to delivering this exceptional destination to the Bend community.
