We had the best time visiting our friends at ISLA this week, a new production from @hitthelightsco combining shadow puppetry, cinematic projections, dance, and a fully original score to share the stories of Cuban American families as they hold on to the power of sisterhood, resilience, and imagination in the midst of an ever-changing world.

We had the chance to sit down with the Puppet Team behind the show, swipe through to learn about what it's like to bring a production to life that utilizes over 400 (!!!) puppets.

⭐ ISLA runs through August 29th at the WP Theatre (2162 Broadway, New York, NY)
⭐ Tickets start at $15 - visit the link in our bio to grab yours.
⭐ This show is supported by a @jimhensonfoundation grant.

Don't miss out on the chance to see this heartwarming show! We'll see you at WP Theatre! by @casefacespaceace

Hit The Lights believes great theater should be for everyone — that’s why we reserve a limited number of Theater for Everyone tickets at just $15 for every performance of ISLA.

ISLA is a one-of-a-kind production that brings an original family history to life through music, shadow puppetry, and captivating performances. As you make your end-of-summer plans, add this world premiere of visually stunning, music-filled theatrical experience to your calendar.

There are only so many $15 seats available per show. The sooner you book, the better the deal — so if the ISLA has been on your list, now’s the time to act.

Feeling full and grateful for the excellent night of music and community. Shout outs to @bandnada for putting us up, @gracepuffer for taking beautiful shots, @thewillgill and @africanarchy for bringing your A game, and of course my boy @zakhouston for making a beautiful thing with me. It’s one of the great joys of my life getting to make beautiful things with you. Go listen to our tape Swimming Season if you haven’t yet. by @casefacespaceace

A wonderful night at @wondervillenyc . It was such a pleasure to get to play with @go.home.exe again, as well as getting to know @africanarchy and @bonelessfri3nd better through play.

Also shout out to @sa_phne_ whose inaugural set has left me SO SORE from dancing that I barely got to work. I can’t wait to revel in those sweet sweet beats again! by @casefacespaceace

Tomorrow I get to do something really special.

For the first time since 2018 (!) I’ll have the pleasure of playing a set with @go.home.exe , who’re calling in their magical mystery band while @travisemeryhackett heals from his fight with a road demon (you should see the road demon). Feeling so grateful to @missmarliemack and @zakhouston for this opportunity, and their friendship, and their incredible tunes. Also it’s been a joy getting to play with @africanarchy whose flute is going to tootie-toot-toot some skulls right off of peoples’ bodies.

Come join us at @barfreda801 tomorrow for the family reunion. We know you want to, so just Go Home. We’ll be there. Doors at 7, music starts at 8. by @casefacespaceace

I scoured the depths, and found this artifact. This is the first image of myself performing with Hit The Lights! Theater Company. It's a picture from the summer of 2014, when we performed DUNGEON for the first time in the auditorium of an elementary school. At the time, I had no idea that the work I did and still do with this group of amazing artists would be the defining work of my artistic life. What I knew then, as I do now, is to find people who are game on, who are willing to make bold choices alongside you, and those who are willing to fall on their faces with you. I have found those people in the rest of the company, in the students we've taught, and in the folks we've performed for. On September 30th, HTL! will be celebrating our 10th year as a company. We'll be lighting up @courtsquaretheaterlic with food, drinks, performances and dancing. If you've enjoyed our work, if you've been here from the beginning of just found out about us, if you've cared in any way about my development as an artist and person, it would be an honor to have you there with us. It's gonna be a blast. head over to our website (www.hitthelights.org) for tix. by @casefacespaceace
