Learning I have Hemochromatosis has been a strange journey of silver linings. My body absorbs too much iron, and to stay healthy, I have to donate blood regularly for the rest of my life. The unexpected beauty? My treatment doesn’t just help me—it helps others.

💉 Knowing my blood could save lives feels like a gift wrapped in irony. I’m forced to do something selfless for a selfish reason, and while that leaves me feeling a mix of guilt and gratitude, I’m choosing to focus on the good.

Hemochromatosis might not be a household name, but it affects more people than you think. Left untreated, it can lead to fatigue, joint pain, brain fog, depression, any number of medical problems (diabetes, liver cancer, etc), and eventually organ failure.

🩸 The solution? Blood donation. For me, it’s a necessity, but for others, it’s a choice—one that could change someone’s life.

If you’ve ever thought about donating blood, this is your sign & reminder of how much it matters. Whether you’re saving a stranger or supporting someone with a condition like mine, your generosity can be a silver lining in someone else’s story.
