Thank you @texaswvc for changing my life.

I came to UT four years ago, never wanting to touch a volleyball or play on a team again. I quit senior year of high school, feeling worthless and invisible. My mental health was the worst it had ever been, and I chose to blame myself for not loving the sport like I once did. I felt like I had let down nine-year-old me who would count down the days until practice, repeatedly serve against the side of my house, and dream about one day becoming a leader.

I forced myself to try volleyball one last time, and it took one open gym to realize that my shattered self-worth was not my fault. Here, I met the most incredible women who immediately believed in not only me as a player, but me as a person. It took time to accept I could deserve their love and support, but my teammates never failed to show it to me. I am forever indebted to them.

Serving as President has been the most challenging yet rewarding two years, and I would do it a million times over to give my teammates (and best friends) their own second chance at volleyball. I am constantly inspired by my club’s resilience, passion, and commitment to each other. Thank you for allowing me to grow into the leader I have always wanted to be.

The past thirteen years playing this sport has shown me the highest of highs and lowest of lows, but I have become the strongest version of myself because of it. Volleyball will forever be a part of who I am, and I truly cannot imagine my life without it (anymore!)

Here’s to ending this chapter on my own terms!
