Throwing it back to my first ever TV series Dogs of Grime - produced + directed by me for ITV, now streaming on ITVX.

A job can't get much better than interviewing people with their dogs.

As we head into summer and a bunch of new projects, I realised I never actually shared this series on here. So here’s a little BTS from the shoot.

Shoutout to the amazing cast and crew 🌟

It’s been a mad 6 months, and wi nah dun yet!

I made a promise to myself when I first started in TV 5 years ago that I was committed to putting more Black people, and afros, on TV... fast forward 5 years, I could never even have imagined what that thought would look like or turn into.

Shoutout to every single person I've worked with, casted, interacted with. Our communities, Black, Brown, queer, different physical capabilities etc all matter and deserve to be represented.

Representation, not diversity, is the goal.

Here’s to continuing to break the internet and making great bloody TV 🎥🫶🏽 by @castingbydestiny

One thing about me, I do love a sidequest.

My fiancée and I have recently launched The Chosen Roots Foundation – an online space for queer people rebuilding their lives after family estrangement through creativity and community.

We're celebrating the launch with our first paid open writing call, exploring one simple question: What does the word "queer" mean to you?

No publishing history or portfolio needed.

We'd love to connect with queer people across the UK and beyond. If this resonates, please share it with your community.

Get in touch with us to find out more.

When creating this series, I wanted to pay homage to the OG grime legends, so we asked the cast- Who would be on your Mount Rushmore of Grime? and these were their answers.

To see more, you can watch the full episodes of Dogs of Grime- now streaming on ITVX.

Some snaps from two plays I directed earlier this year for @hepburnhookstheatreco Brown Skinned Girls Festival at The Space Theatre 🎭

And if we can’t be happy in paradise by Hannah Ali Khan – follows two Brown girls, Hazeema and Ayesha, who are secretly in a relationship but not out to anyone else, in the final moments of a school trip to the beach.

Hate of Play by Elizabeth Parikh – A sharp, hilarious two-hander about an interviewer and interviewee trapped in a lift post-interview.

Hepburn Hooks Theatre Co. is a queer, female-led company championing Black and Brown creatives.
