I’ve been sitting with this for an hour trying to figure out what to write.

The first draft of my memoir is done.

I started this book the way I started the football team — with no plan, no credentials, and an absolute certainty that it needed to exist. Seven years living inside the most extraordinary adventure of my life, and another two trying to put it into words that did justice to the women at the center of it.

Forbidden Dream is the story of what happened when a burned-out schoolteacher from New Jersey walked into a photo exhibition in a Himalayan refugee village and scribbled a note in a guestbook: If you want a women’s football team for Tibet, I’ll help you do it.

It is the story of the girls who answered that note. Who crossed mountains on bleeding feet as children and learned to play football on dirt pitches and looked into cameras and told the world who they were. Who called me Ama. Who taught me everything that actually mattered.

I’ll be sharing pieces of this journey — words, photos, memories — as we move toward publication. Stay close. by @casya_transformativetherapy

You don’t have to do it alone.

Magic happens when we remember that we have an enduring connection with the divine, the earth and with each other.

Your life force energy is your birth rite. And it’s so easy to access it.

Thank you to the brave souls who attended the Feel & Transmute one-day retreat at the Jersey Shore, and Melissa Warnick for the magical collaboration.

Available for 1:1 transformational therapy starting mid-August, fully virtual wherever you are in the world.

Catch the wave in-person at Healing Voices retreat this September in Spain, Mystery School of Living & Dying on The Day of the Dead, and Inside Out in late November.

If a tiny butterfly’s wings can kick off a chain of events that leads to a massive typhoon, what can happen when a BIG event occurs in our lives, one so big that literally everything that comes after it is built upon it?

And what if that BIG event is something negative, something so scary that part of you becomes frozen there, in what we call trauma, and this scary event gets locked away in a box where it doesn’t have to be seen, heard or felt?

Can an entire life, after that event, be built upon the unconscious attempt to deny it, forget it and ensure it never happens again?

And then what happens, perhaps decades later, when one realizes their entire life is one big trauma response? Once you see it, you can’t unsee it.

Maybe life as you know it crumbles into dust, the house of cards falls to pieces.

And maybe, just maybe - you get to start all over again. by @casya_transformativetherapy

Maybe you’re asking yourself what you can do to help during this massive emotional upheaval triggered by Cornell.

The answer is different if you are a woman or a man.

Men - your path is to face your ego and destroy it.

Women - your path is to reach deep inside and find your power, and blow it up so big through your voice and your actions that it becomes the biggest, brightest thing in every space.

Get to work, everyone. by @casya_transformativetherapy

After leaving India nine years ago, I did everything I could to forget about it and start a new life. I moved to the safest, most quiet village in Spain where no one has ever heard of Tibet Women’s Football, and essentially stopped talking about my ten years in the Tibetan refugee community.

It was too painful. It didn’t feel safe. So I just put it on a shelf and moved forward.

Finally this year I felt the inspiration to write my memoir, ‘Forbidden Dream,’ going into intimate detail about my experiences in India and telling the true, inside story of what happened to myself and the team. I cried the entire time I was writing it, which was the last layer of healing and simply the most powerful release I’ve had in my life.

This week I was in NYC at the Write to Pitch conference, armed with my manuscript and filled with the dream that once helped me do the impossible. It was difficult, but I pitched the story to publishing professionals from the BIG houses, and I’m happy to report it was super well received.

They all said the same thing - it’s time to get an agent. So I’m looking for literary representation…if anyone has a connection to a professional who is audacious and heart-centered enough to take on this true yet unbelievable story that has already made its mark on the world.

This photo is my small cohort of new author friends from the conference… it was incredible to share with these professionals and have my work mirrored back to me.

Forbidden Dream… it’s coming… it’s in motion… never give up. Longsho bhumotso (rise up Tibetan girls)

Instead of the Alps it’s the Himalayas.

Instead of music it’s football.

Instead of Nazis it’s Red Chai-nah.

Instead of Julie Andrews it’s me.

I’ve arrived in NYC for a week of pitching my memoir ‘Forbidden Dream’ to the hot shot publishers. The winner ought to have courage and audacity, the qualities I was forced to embody while living this story in the flesh.

As I rode the train into the city this morning I was brought to that scene from The Sound of Music when frauline Maria was sat on a bus singing her heart out about confidence, only to be dropped outside the stoic Von Trapp manor utterly bewildered and clueless as to what would come next.

Will I find that old reserve of courage I once had? Nine long years have passed since I left India and the Tibetan community. I feel like a totally different person in many ways.

But as all things Tibet Women’s Football have always been, a supernatural force is afoot, and it is undeniable.

Across the city in front of the United Nations General Assembly, Tibetan refugees are protesting as I type this, relentless in their determination that Tibet not be forgotten.

I share this determination.

And I dedicate my efforts this week to the knowing that, as is in the hearts of all Tibetans, Tibet will be free.

Throwback feeling all the feels… missing my casa and my incomparable friend and all the magic we cocreate. Somehow we managed to do it on the phone last night… to hold a space that felt as scared as any temple. @danacobar taken in La Herradura, Andalucia, Spain by @casya_transformativetherapy

I’ve been all round the world and had so many adventures, always attracted to weird and foreign experiences… but at the end of the day, there’s nothing I love more than clamming.

At the Jersey Shore, the slang term for locals is ‘clamdigger.’

And though I’ve not lived here for many years, when I wade out into the shallows of the bay and stick my toes in the sand, wiggling slightly, waiting for that familiar hard shell, it’s like BAM!

I reach down into the water and pull up that gorgeous clam, and I realize - there’s no other activity I’ve done that makes me feel more like ME than clamming in the Barnegat Bay.

The clear, brackish water, smelling sweet and salty, the sound of the wind and the gulls… the flat expanse and silence… it’s the best of this place.

I never watch movies. Life is dramatic enough. But I felt drawn to one I saw an interview for, and although it took me months to actually sit and watch it, I finally did.

The Testament of Ann Lee. The true story of a group of people in the 1700’s, living in wretched conditions in England, who somehow discovered a path to ecstasy through the framework of devotion. They realized that through voice and movement, they could induce god-like trance states, and became overwhelmed with a mission of peace and freedom.

Ann was one of them, whose connection to spirit shone so bright, it awakened in her a total embodied leadership at a time women were not treated well.

Her group relocated to the American colonies to find greater religious freedom, and founded the Shaker movement.

Ann went through horrible darkness in her life, which I believe opens the doors to ecstatic states that mundane life simply cannot.

Watching this reminded me that modern trends of ecstatic dance, trance music, moving meditation, and sound healing are based in practices that have emerged throughout time in many different cultural contexts.

If you’ll watch you’ll see the connection to our trendy spiritual world of yoga, plant medicine, somatics and breathwork.

I love how Hollywood can bring back into the mainstream field a frequency we could all benefit from at this time. Fearless devotion to righteousness and the great mystery that surrounds us at all times, which our culture seemingly tries to make us forget in every moment. by @casya_transformativetherapy
