The life of a stylist.

ARCH on Instagram: composed, considered, not a cushion out of place.

ARCH behind the scenes: trying to film one polished opening shot while the front door blows open in the wind. Repeatedly.

The final content is calm. The shoot-day footage is occasionally me doing whatever this is in the middle of a very beautiful house.

Please do not speak to me about the first three seconds.

I did the terrifying thing!

I walked off the main stage at RESACON Vegas yesterday a different version of myself, after delivering my first international talk to some of the top home stagers in the US, Canada and beyond.

If you’d told me a year ago I’d be doing this, I would have laughed. Public speaking has always terrified me. But my goal this year was to do hard things. To get uncomfortable. To see what happens when you stop hiding behind the work and start speaking about it.

The relief right now is HUGE. My nervous system is still catching up. But the fear has completely shifted into excitement. The feedback in the room was incredible, and while I was literally on stage talking about scaling with strategy, our recent colour combo reel on the ARCH account hit 615,000 views with over 6k new followers. The timing isn’t lost on me.

This trip has already opened doors I didn’t know existed. Catch-ups in New York next week are booked, and I was back on stage today for the expert panel.

Vegas, you are wild. But I think I’m ready for more. No small plans 🚀

To the other founders building service businesses - what was your last ‘I did the scary thing’ moment? Tell me in the comments so we can celebrate it.

I landed back in Melbourne this morning after the most surreal week of my life.

I flew to Kelowna carrying a lot.

Two team departures. Cash flow stress. A sinus infection I was pretending wasn’t there.

I boarded that plane exhausted and showed up anyway.

Tuesday 6:30 AM - Knox Mountain Founder’s Hike.

I met Dan at the bottom before the hike even started. He gave me a hug and told me he liked my videos.

I had written the goal “Dan Martell knows who I am” six months ago when it felt completely unhinged.

I crossed it off at the base of that mountain. ✔️

Wednesday, Dan called me out on a live Elite call.

“I fucking know who Cat is. She showed up. She’s doing the thing.”

Thursday and Friday - AI Media Empire - completely rewired how I think about content, leadership, and what I’m actually building.

The biggest shift I’m bringing home? Dream bigger.

But the thing I didn’t expect? The people.

The genuine, no-agenda, I-actually-want-to-see-you-win people. The conversations on hikes and over breakfast and in garages in the rain.

Those are the things I’ll carry the longest.

I raised my standards this week - not in a vague motivational way. Specifically and operationally. Higher bar for the work. Higher bar for what I accept from myself and my team.

I am not the same person who landed on Monday.

If you’re sitting on the fence about showing up to something that scares you - this is your sign.

The rooms that feel too big are exactly the ones you need to be in.

Some weeks, I genuinely impress myself.

Not because everything is neat or perfectly balanced. It definitely is not.

This week: 2x 6am strength sessions, two huge installs, an inbox that needs its own postcode, a 5am coaching call, 3 new team members and a sick kiddo at home.

It is a lot.

But I have learned that waiting for a quieter week is a waste of time. The work still needs doing. The reps still count. I am working with my new EA on tightening up our processes and SOPs. Extracting myself from the day to day again so I can work ON the business, not work FOR the business.

You do not need to do everything perfectly. You just need to keep showing up.

Consistency compounds.

What is one thing you are quietly proud of yourself for this week?

Sometimes I am knee-deep in florals and think, surely this cannot be the best use of my time.

Then I remember: this is what I built.

A business with people, projects and a standard I care too much about to phone in.

Some days that means strategy, leadership and big decisions. Other days it means changing stems, moving a cushion for the forty-seventh time and fixing the thing nobody else has time to fix.

No job is beneath you when you still care about the result.

Property styling started because I could never walk into a room without seeing what it could be.

I would see the version in my head, pull the pieces together, move things around and make it real.

Turns out there is a whole career in that particular kind of brain.

Still one of my favourite parts of the job!

What made you take the leap? by @catbrown_

Allow me to reintroduce myself.

I’m Cat. I run a property styling and design business in Melbourne, make a slightly alarming number of decisions in a warehouse, and remain deeply committed to rugs, rooms with personality and making a mess look like a plan.

I built ARCH because I could walk into a room and see what it could become before anyone else could.

Still can.

If you are new here, hi. If you have been here a while, thanks for being along for the ride.

Luxury is quiet. Your visibility shouldn’t be.

Cat Brown built @arch_melbourne on restraint: quality of materials, consideration of form, intention behind every choice. Not more. Better.

What gets less airtime is how she’s held that standard while running a business and still showing up online. Putting a face to the brand, on top of the projects, the team and everything else on a founder’s plate. Most business owners treat visibility as the thing that happens when there’s time. Cat treats it as part of the job.

At High Stakes, she speaks to holding your vision when the pressure says compromise, and what that looks like when you’re the one running the business and the brand at the same time.

Join her at the table. 7pm Friday 23rd October, Assaggini, Mornington. Tickets via link in bio.

Afraid of colour? Start with the rug.

Go a couple of shades deeper than your default, then test it before you commit.

Borrow one, loan one or use AI to see it in the room first.

The safest option rarely creates the most memorable space.

Save this before you buy the neutral rug again. by @catbrown_

I need you to hear this: Instagram engagement is not a tagging strategy.

You need to actually be on there.

Reels, Stories, carousels, opinions, projects.

Make content people want to send to someone else.

Then yes, tag the people who helped make it happen.

What is working for you right now? by @catbrown_

Fresh florals are part of the finish.

They bring scent, texture and a softness that changes how a space is perceived.

In summer, they may need replacing with faux after three days.

In winter, they can last weeks.

Good faux can work beautifully.

But when the property calls for it, real florals are one more considered layer in a premium styling strategy.

Do you use real or faux? by @catbrown_
