Please welcome our next and final FOCUS Missionary, Marcela Cardona!
Marcela will be joining the FOCUS Missionaries this year at GSU.

Where are you from and where did you attend college?
“I’m from Houston, Texas, and graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Birds Up!” 🤙🧡

Favorite Bible Verse: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Favorite Saint: “St. Therese of Lisieux, the Little Flower, has been a profound witness to me of how great love for God is lived through the ordinary, hidden acts of daily life. She has taught me that holiness is found not in doing extraordinary things, but in doing ordinary things with extraordinary love. Throughout my journey of discerning the call to become a missionary, she has been a faithful friend, mentor, and constant companion, always leading me closer to the heart of Christ.” 🌹

Why did you want to become a missionary?
“I became a missionary because, in college, I encountered the greatest love anyone could ever experience: the love of my Heavenly Father. My deepest desire is for Him to make me a vessel of His love for the students I will walk with, so that they may come to know Him and experience His love, a love that radically changes lives.

I want them to know that they are pursued and loved by their Heavenly Father beyond any human measure, that they can be part of a community that upholds them and loves them well, and that they are not alone in their walk with God.”

What are you looking to accomplish this school year?
“I hope to build friendships with the students at Georgia Southern and to grow alongside them. I hope to have the opportunity to share Jesus with many others and to be part of the beautiful community of Catholic Eagles.” 🦅

We’re looking forward to a great school year with our new missionaries. Stick around for more content coming soon! 👼 by @catholiceagles

Please give a warm welcome to one of our new FOCUS missionaries, Claire Hoover!
Claire Marie will be joining the FOCUS missionaries this year at GSU.

Where are you from and where did you attend college?
“I’m from Cumming, Georgia, and I just graduated from the University of Georgia. Go dawgs!!” 🐶🐾

Favorite Bible Verse: “Think of what is above, not of what is on Earth.” Colossians 3:2

Favorite Saint: “Pope St. John Paul II. I love him because his passion for the phrase ‘Be Not Afraid’ has been instrumental in my understanding of the goodness and closeness of God, especially in moments of suffering.”

Why did you want to become a missionary?
“I became a missionary because pursuing intimacy with Christ has radically transformed my life, and I want other students to experience the same freedom in abundance!”

And what are you looking to accomplish this school year?
“Something I hope to accomplish this year is to simply help students know Christ more deeply. If even one student can say they know Christ more intimately after this year, I would consider it a great accomplishment!”

Stay tuned to meet our next FOCUS Missionary! ✨ by @catholiceagles

Last week we welcomed our new FOCUS missionaries to the team and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Help us pray for Claire Marie Hoover, joining us from the University of Georgia, and Marcela Cardona, joining us from the University of Texas San Antonio! We can’t wait to get to work! by @catholiceagles

Favorite Saints: St. Gabriel the Archangel and St Jude
Favorite Bible Verse: Proverbs 24:16 “Though the just fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble from only one mishap.”

“Joining the Catholic Eagles has allowed me to grow in my faith and make valuable friendships along the way. My hope is that this year I can continue to help give all of you that opportunity, just as it was given to me. For now, always remember,
God loves you!”

Welcome back Charly, you’re going to do great things! by @catholiceagles
