¿Te has preguntado qué pasa con las conversaciones con compañeros de IA? En primer lugar, sabemos que no son infalibles, pueden cometer errores. También, pueden dar consejos peligrosos e incluso simular juegos de rol de carácter sexual, sin importar quién está del otro lado.

Cuando hablamos de estos chatbots de IA estamos hablando de una tecnología que simula ser humana, que imita sentimientos, opiniones, y pensamientos propios. Pero no es humano y no, no es terapista y tampoco sabe guardar secretos. Recientemente, se filtraron chats, que se suponían privados, en resultados en Google y Bing. 😱

🚨 Estás interactuando con un código, una combinación de 1 y 0.
🚨 Detrás del código, hay una corporación buscando maneras de monetizar lo que dices, buscas, etc.
🚨 Todo lo que escribes puede ser usado en su contra. Sí, las filtraciones pueden exponer los pensamientos y sentimientos más íntimos.

Recuerda que estos "compañeros" pueden utilizarse para evitar las relaciones humanas reales. Puede ser especialmente problemático para las personas con problemas de salud mental. Exacerbar problemas de salud mental no solo por el aislamiento sino porque puede dar consejos peligrosos que pueden causar daño a otros a sí mismos, especialmente a los niños y adolescentes.

What if we could bring someone back after they died?
Not their body. Their voice, their memories, the way they told a story. That's already technically possible, and companies are building it now.

A few minutes of recorded audio is enough to clone a voice convincingly. Feed in their messages, emails, voice notes and letters, and a language model can learn how they wrote, what they joked about, how they argued. Add video, and you have something that looks back at you. Companies like HereAfter AI and StoryFile already offer versions of this, some built while the person is still alive, recording answers to questions they know they'll be asked one day. Others assembled afterwards, by families, from whatever was left behind.

When this came up with @CathyHackl, her first instinct was to shut it down. Mine was too. Then she said something that stopped me: what if it helped someone grieve?

Grief is supposed to end in acceptance, but I'm not sure what acceptance looks like when their voice is still answering you. Would it help us let go, or stop us from ever having to?

The invitation came unexpectedly this year. It came from Fortune Most Powerful Women inviting me to meet Gloria Steinem a few days before my birthday. I didn’t even need a second to think about. I was an immediate yes.

The invitation read: Fortune and Gloria Steinem invite you for an intimate Most Powerful Women conversation about how AI is impacting traditional models of leadership and what this means for women in business and beyond.

This was an invitation to her well known talking circles. This one was on Power and Leadership in the AI Age and it was to be held in Gloria’s living room in Manhattan, a historic space that has long served as a gathering place for organizers, activists, and scholars from around the world.

The day finally came and I took the train from DC to NYC for the day for this special day.

Once I arrived at Gloria’s brownstone, I was surrounded by some of the most influential women in tech and AI, including friends and acquaintances I already knew from the industry, as well as new faces that I had wanted to meet for a while. I made new contacts and new friends. The conversation lasted a few hours and it was filled with insights and a lot of perspectives.

This talking circle felt inspiring and special. I brought Gloria a copy of my latest book. In it I wrote a dedication (you can see it in the photos). At the end of the circle, we all had a chance to meet Gloria 1 on 1. She asked me about my career and my role in the tech and gaming space. We had a very pleasant conversation and I gave her a copy of my book. I thanked her for blazing trails so many of us could have the lives we have.

A few days later, I got an email telling me she had started reading my book! What an honor!

Gloria Steinem passed away yesterday. I feel lucky to have been able to meet her in person.
